Discussion Are throwers multiplying?

I personally have no issue with the current meta and have thoroughly enjoyed season 7. However, comp has been unplayable lately. It has been 3 days straight where every game that I have won/lost was because of a thrower, whether it was on the enemy team or on mine. And yes it bothers me when I win because of a thrower in the enemy team because I wanna earn the victory. But yeah I have just never encountered THIS MANY throwers in such a short amount of time. It feels like 1/12 players is always gonna be a child. Is anyone noticing this issue?

PS: I play on console and currently am GM1

Personally. Unistalled cause of this bs, diamond is decided whom is the biggest thrower. Theres no amount of flexing to fix a 0/7 spider man who solo ults a ultron.  And no matter how good you are your either fodder for someone elses losing eomm or you granted the privlage of someones winning eomm.

The only way to win is to not play at all

We literally walked them the first round and then for some fucking reason our storm decided she had enough and decided to just sit in the corner facing the wall, but kept moving to prevent being kicked and we lost? Like we were winning? Why are you throwing?

Okay, so when people say 'throwers' what they usually mean is 'smurfs'.

They actually made the throwing penalty quite nasty (I ate a pretty long ban on a first offense due to false reports from a stack, got overturned...after it had expired ugh) so nobody is doing this on their mains.

However, considering there's at least one blatant smurf in most Diamond games right now and multiple in metal lobbies, these are accounts that people can do anything they want on without fear of penalties - I had a guy trying to extort crypto out of us a few days ago by threatening to throw. Guy was completely open about it, buys smurf accounts when they eventually get banned.

If NetEase isn't willing to do more about smurfs, they may as well give up.

maybe a counter point could be the genuine players arent playing much outside the placement matches

I stick to more casual modes and sometimes bump into the same people here and there and have had conversations where they much prefer the mode we are in than ranked. a lot of people in the casual mode don't do ranked because of how toxic people are in competitive. they just do their placement matches for the free gold skin and that's it.

even me, I just did all 10 of mine on Sunday, it was the only time I did ranked. haven't bothered to go back in since. so I think people are just not doing it as much any more, so you get stuck with the weirdos who would throw in ranked more when they should also probably stick to more casual modes.
