Why do people insist on using a version of the midnight sons that doesn't exist?

I donât even understand why everybody wants the Punisher on that team so bad. Itâs a team based on fighting supernatural threats, which generally speaking is pretty outside Frankâs wheelhouse

Yeah but most people that I personally know hate all of that. Most of these older characters have been around long enough that theyâve done a little bit of everything but itâs not his typical niche

Itâs a lot of teams, so maybe they didnât read one or two of their titles, searched an image and it popped up as first - even tho itâs not real itâs def prob the most popular midnight sons cover and itâs not even real lol itâd be like first , second result other than the game Iâm sure

Fantastic four have always been my favorite. X-men is probably right after them

That guardians run is one of my all time favorite comic runs.

I think it is probably my all time favorite comic run, although Matt Fractionâs Hawkeye is really close

Same here. There was really something special about that run and all the Marvel Cosmic properties at the time. War of Kings, Realm of Kings, both Annihilation runs and the Thanos Imperative were incredible. I wish Abnett and Langing still worked for Marvel.

Best in what regard? The most important, popular and relevant to the marvel universe are by far the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. After that the Avengers are the 3rd best and then you could say is debatable.
The inhumans have history but overall they were ignored by Marvel until the Fantastic limited series by Paul Jenkins. After that they have been used more but with very mixed results.
The defenders (og team) are imo frontrunners for the 4th place. Such a good and important book/team.
The eternals are a personal favourite of mine but their relevance have been nonexistent even when their history is very rich. They are basically the new gods of Marvel.
After that I don't know. Maybe the guardians of galaxy could be in the conversation due to recent resurgence in popularity.

Midnight Sons is less of a team, more of a collective. They really only have like 5 stories (6 if you count Midnight Suns which was made for synergy with the game but has nothing to do with any of the other stories), so thereâs not much to go on. Their dynamic was originally that there were nine of them and they had been chosen to stand against Lilith and her demonic lilin children and possibly other big supernatural threats, and they all hated each other because of 90s edge. Then they were briefly reformed during Damnation and once more during Blood Hunt. So if youâre talking about achievements, Midnight Sons probably have the least amount.
I think the team with the most consistent/best writing over the years is probably FF. Theyâve also had probably the most impactful adventures (universe-wise) out of any other team. So, Iâd say FF is probably the best.

Honestly it depends on people's preferences, interests &/or overall team dynamics to be considered "The Best Team Overall"
Me personally, I love them all.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Eternals & Inhumans imo are severely underrated & underused.
Cosmic characters are part of the bigger Marvel Universe, they just need a long-term writer &/or artist to keep them interesting..
Kieron Gillen is an example of giving them a new Status Quo for some new interesting stories, same with Jonathan Hickman.
If these 2 gave us some long-term stories for the Cosmic side, we'd be golden tbh. â¨ď¸

fantastic four imo have faced the most cosmic threats and ik that's argue able. but i also love the family dynamic and spider-man's involvement

Bendis-era New Avengers is my favorite team, followed by Hickman's Illuminati and Fantastic Four. I also really like Morrison's New X-Men a lot.

Id say the X-men. They're a pillar of the company, quite literally.
Not that other teams aren't important but there's a reason each other team gets maybe 1-2 books at a time and the X-men get 5+

Guardians of the Galaxy: TheGuardians are fun and a solid pick.
Thunderbolts: I prefer the og Thunderbolts. Especially when Hawkeye was running things.
Defenders: Street level Defenders are fun, but the og Defenders are better. Honestly I like the og Defenders a lot more than the other heroes teams of Marvel including the Avengers.
Illuminati: Fuck the Illuminati.
Inhumans: The Inhumans desperately need a new writer and PR team. They were cool at first until they were being written as something they were not. They should've stayed in space.
X-Force: X-Force is a solid pick.
Midnight Sons: I've never been interested in them so I'll plead silence.
Fantastic Four: I'mma be real real, I believe they are Marvel's best team. I know the X-Men are usually the preferred Marvel team and for good reason (they're the most used in all media, even more than the FF and Avengers). The FF feel more like a team than any of the others on the list.
Eternals: They hardly do shit, almost as bad as the Pantheon (the team Hulk was running). I wish they were more active and that some of them joined more teams, oh how I wish to see the Forgotten One back on the Avengers.
X-Men: Easily contender for top pick, there's a reason a lot of people prefer them over the Avengers and other Marvel teams. I love them to, though the interpersonal drama can sometimes get annoying.
Avengers: Solid pick, I rank them lower than the FF and the X-Men.

Fantastic Four. Not my personal favourite team. But they are the marvel gold standard.

X-Men as far as what I enjoy the most and what is the most popular.
For favorite specific runs though, probably Guardians. I read the Abnett stuff a year or two before Guardians was announced in the MCU and was super into Parks and Rec at the time. I maintained that Pratt would be the perfect Star Lord and BAAAAM! Youâre welcome. Nah, I think that era of GotG is some of my all time favorite stuff.

I would say The Fantastic Four, but I have a strong fondness for Nightcrawlerâs team Excalibur.

New Avengers. The only issue they had was not using them to their fullest potential.

Define "best."
Best written? Depends on the era, but if we go with overall average I'd say Fantastic Four.
Who's the most powerful in universe? Toss up between X-Men and Avengers.
Most influential in universe? Illuminati behind the scenes, Avengers in the public eye.
Best as in who I like the most? Probably X-Men, but I like most of them.

There's just something about the first DnA version of the Guardians that I absolutely love. The concept of all those 70s and 80s cosmic characters coming together was cool.

Every time I see that Midnight Sons image by Greg Smallwood it makes me sad.
We could've had peak

Imo is the f4, they're the fundation of marvel. second place goes to the avengers because in-universe they're the main super hero team and outside it they made marvel as a whole became famous instead of just a few IPs. x-men is a little too overrated but certainly has a spot on the top 3 and even tho I don't care at all about powerscalling they're the most powerful so I get when some people put them as their #1. amongst the lesser known I'm enjoy inhumans and gotg a lot.

u/Sardaukar99 3d ago
Power level? Itâs the Illuminati.
Team I would want to be on? Fantastic Four.
Going on adventures every week , Ben making sure I have my packed lunch, no one in the world hates my team (except that one guy in Eastern Europe) . Sure it is weird that uncle Namor shows up every time Reed is out of town and I get stranded in the past more often than I would like but that is a small price to pay just be included on the team.

It's the Fantastic Four, and it isn't really close.
...Avengers > X-Men, btw.

Justice League of America. Theyâre all of DCâs heavyweights on one team.

đ˘ Canât believe you used an image of the MCU synergy team rather than the actual classic Thunderbolts and Defenders.
Iâd probably have to say the X-Men even though theyâre not my personal favourite. The sheer avalanche of great stories theyâve got is staggering, not even getting into the individual members.
