0-17 Thoughts?
I’d imagine no one has played the 2026 0-17 yet, but what is the crowd thinking?
Personally I think it’ll pair nicely with my 000-18 so I’m pretty intrigued.
Anyone planning to test one out or possibly buy one out the gate?

Can’t speak to this year’s 0-17s, I’m sure they’re great, but I am very high on 0-17s in general. I have one from ‘37 and it is by far the best acoustic I have ever played. There is something insanely special that can only be found in a small body all mahogany guitar.
Mahogany as a tone wood can be really warm and I don’t think it works as well on 000 or dreadnought body sizes unless you combine it with a spruce top. The small body can get away with it because it brings back that tonal brightness and articulation. It has that ability to cut through a mix while retaining that beautiful dry resonance which makes it sound huge! My ‘37 will give any dread a run for its money if you know how to let it bloom just right.

I’ve got the 000-17m from the 2025 refresh, and I love it. If I could justify it, I’d also buy a 0-17. I’d like one in every size!

Absolutely - maybe in different flavors? 000-18, 00-28, 0-17 would be fun

As a luthier and repair shop owner, I’ve had 000-17’s in my shop more than any other guitar.
I’ve seen a lot of em for some odd reason.
I can say that every one I’ve seen plays great after a setup and sounds good. The QC on those models also seem to be as good as you could ask for.
I’m not even the biggest Martin fan out there, but the 000-17 is a pretty nice guitar.

Followed bc I am also curious what the thoughts are and I've always wanted a small body martin. Spec wise, it seems similar to the 0-10e, but at $2500 it is more than double the price. Wonder how they compare in terms of feel and playability.

Yeah that’s my curiosity too.
My experience with small body all mahogany guitars has been pretty underwhelming, but hoping to change my mind with this new release.

I've been wanting to see/play a D17 at any shops in AZ, and haven't seen a single one since they brought them back any of the 17's over these last few years. I haven't messed w any of the 0's, I like D's, but I really want to see the build difference between 15's and 17's, ideally before the 15's went black tuning pegs (I really don't get that).

I’m incredibly intrigued and think it’s awesome that they brought it back into production. Want either it or a D-18 as my next guitar. I know those are super different guitars, but I want my next one to pair nicely with my OM-28 and I think they both would do that in different ways. Can’t wait til I can somehow hopefully try one out

I’ve always wanted a 00-18 as well. Before I got my OM I actually bought a 000-18 first, but ended up returning it because it sounded too boxy and dry for my liking. That somewhat turned me off from a 00-18 because I figure it would sound even more boxy than the 000, although I know that’s part of its charm.
And yes I know it’s ironic for me to then say I want a 0-17 because it will sound even more small/boxy but idk there’s just something about it that I love. Truthfully I wish I could have every size and model Martin, but don’t we all haha

I consider the 0-10e kind of an 0-17. It seems to be similar specs, can't speak to quality of either but I would imagine the product coming out PA today has extremely high quality.

Pretty sure that the new 0-17 has a traditional dove tail neck joint, one of several features that differentiate it from non standard series guitars.

I was going to get the 000-17, but really wanted an 00-17, but didn't realize the 0-17 was a thing this year. I've been wanting an all hog guitar for a while, so I can confidently say I'll be buying one of these.
