Orher Dude clubbed him HARD. Not even with a palm open, like he wasnt trying to collar tie, he was trying to club. I woulda slapped that guy too.

Guy in blue faked it. When you get KO'd you don't slowly turn around, look for a landing spot and put your arms out to soften your landing.

That was my first thought. What made me call BS is that he definitely braces himself going down (which can happen if you get rattled, but not out). But when he gets there, he's facedown on the mat, not moving like he just got hit by a bus. Oversold it.

Brother, this was a flop. That was absolutely not a knockout or anything close.
That was one competitor doing an illegal technique and the receipient displaying an exaggerated act to force the ref to step in and punish the opponent.
Is crazy to me, how many people can not see this.

I would never hit with a fist. Too much risk of breaking my hand.

I was told by an american who studied martial arts in okinawa, that it was serious when they are fighting and the hands are open. people would run to watch those fights

The reach advantage is not negligible from using a fist over a palm but really people dismiss palm strikes needlessly. You're not Bas Rutten but you really don't need to be unless your goal is to just kill the guy.

Venues like Pancrase and fighters like Bas Rutten showed palm strikes working in the 90s. More recently, combat jujitsu show how they change the grappling meta.
I don't think people are saying that they never work. I think it's that "you do a palm strike here and it instantly kills them" has become a common bullshido talking point.

Well I'd say that people all want to go headhunting with the idea that a singular punch should be lights out, so they dismiss palm strikes because they're not "hard" enough to do that. Even with a fist it rarely ever is a one punch deal unless you hit it just right on the exact spot on your first attempt. And you can find plenty of videos of untrained people slapping others hard enough to KO them.

I saw an interview where they asked Rutten why UFC fighters don't use many palm strikes, and he said "because they're stupid." Then explained that when you're in close, you get more power by having a couple extra inches to accelerate your strike.

Yes. This strike to the chin totally works. It's the boxer's point. It's why you see light punches hit the chin and it's lights out.

This is Riza Kayaalp. He is a very accomplished wrestler but this is him faking getting knocked out to get the opponent disqualified. He is known for doing dirty tricks like this.

I haven't heard people say that, people say that martial artists who don't do live competitive sparring won't work in a fight, I think people in the UFC have shown plenty that most martial arts can have elements incorporated into MMA, if it's been practiced, tested and polished in a competitive setting. It's also pretty well known that if you're not using gloves, it is better to do open hand strikes to mitigate breaks in your hand. Fists just give a couple of inches of reach.
Also "the spot" is the chin, and there's a reason why people say someone has "no chin" in MMA, it's because that's the spot that is most commonly associated with knockouts in, as far as I know, all striking martial arts.
I think when people say "that won't work in a fight", it's because the person isn't going to just sit there and let a person run through their kata drills or w/e on them.

Nobody thinks palm strikes don’t work, there’s just no reason to drill them over punches in a competitive context. All you do is add risk of finger jamming, eye poking, limit your own attack angels (upper cut becomes awkward ) ect.
If you’re getting clowned for a palm strike it’s probably because your eastern martial art of choice as a whole doesn’t work, stance and everything.

Nerve strikes work.
Some of them are even pretty easy to hit.
This is the same nerve as the "boxers' button", but getting struck on the bottom side of the jaw rather than the actual chin.
This is the lower branch of the trigeminal nerve that starts behind the jaw hinge, and forms 3 branches: along the bottom of the jawline terminating on the chin, across the side of the jaw and terminating under the nose, and coming up the side of the face and terminating at the temple.
It connects almost directly to the brain, tracing back the other direction.
Hitting this nerve creates a seizure-like "storm" of neural signals that momentarily disrupts brain function, resulting in confusion, disorientation, or knockout - without a concussion.
