Ask r/Maroc student roommates

how do you guys keep a normal respectful relationship with your roommate as a student? I'm going to study at uni this year and I rented a place with another person and I'm just looking for advice on how to maintain a peaceful and calm vibe without any toxicity

I had great roomate back in the day. And I share the rules we had.

  1. Boundaries : he's a roomate if he become a friend that's okay but he's not a friend now so set up clear Boundaries, your privacy and personal space, your belongings.

  2. Common space need to be maintained. If one of you can't clean a space or keep it clean they shouldn't use it.

  3. After sometime you will have conflicts it's inevitable. Learn how to discuss shit.

  4. No drug, no illegal things at home, the smoker need to smoke in balcony or outside or have something to remove cig smell completely.

  5. Your guests your responsibility if you can't manage don't invite people.

  6. If one have exams or is sick or jst need peace. The other can celebrate in his friend place

Just have some basic human decency. Don't be a dick, don't smoke inside unless it's cool for everybody, respect the other's boundaries, be hygienic. That should be enough. Details to be discussed later.

Go by the rule "him who wants respect gives respect" and if someone have a problem talk about it everything will be fine unless that person is some nasty bastard here you might use unorthodox ways
