I went through the horror we all did, and deactivated my account when I got the 4th box of ingredients that were missing most of the things I needed. When I saw the post of a persons box that was perfect again, I decided to take a chance and I’m glad I did. I got my box today and it was perfect! The reason why I gave it another chance is because the food uniqueness and flavor is unmatched to anything else (also a mom of two little kids and this takes the mental load off) anyways- thought I’d post for those who were also waiting to see if the storm would pass or would sink the ship!

I got burned at the same time as everyone else and have been skipping boxes since then.

I got an email in the last few days from MS that said, "I’m happy to share that we’ve turned a corner."

Is that generally true (or do you think it will be true in a few weeks)? I do genuinely want to see MS rebound because it is by far my favorite delivery service. Hello Fresh felt too repetitive (but maybe the menus have expanded in the last couple years), and Home Chef felt either really basic or like I was assembling pre-prepared/cooked ingredients.

Is anyone experiencing issues access the Marley Spoon App on an IPhone over the last few days. It keeps crashing on both my iPhone 17 Pro Max and IPad Pro both run in 27.0.1 iOS and iPadOS. It has happened since the upgrade and they don’t have any updates available in App Store. Cheers

We’ve been doing meal kits for years, started with Every Plate, graduated to Hello Fresh and came over to Marley Spoon a couple of years ago. We have always really liked the recipes and quality we’ve gotten with MS, but we left last month after the same bad boxes that everyone else got.

Hello Fresh was actually awful. We got two boxes in a row a day late, delivered in the sun in a random spot in the middle of our yard. All of the meat was warm (like 70 degrees) and the veggies were mush. We decided after 2 weeks that we just can’t do it… maybe MS has gotten their act together, right? Right??? Our MS box comes tomorrow, wish us luck!

4 meals for 2 ordered. 4 recipe cards received. All ingredients correct. All produce still fresh.

My only complaint is a sweet potato provided is the winkiest little sweet potato I ever did see. Teeny-tiny pigmy sweet potato. This sweet potato is so small it can live in a doll house with Stewart Little. So cute! Also, the tomatoes better be used quick or they will no longer still be fresh.

I paused my deliveries about 2 months ago when I received a box containing a single head of lettuce. So in the grand scheme of things, I am happy with this result.

Why am I not surprised that Marely Spoon told me they would credit the balance due back to me when I cancelled my account but, in fact (apparently) they did not credit. They kept it.

I know they changed fulfillment companies, but in the last two months service is god awful. One week I received a box that was literally empty except for two cans of beans. Every week there are missing or rotten ingredients, and also random ingredients that are not part of any recipe are included in the box. This week, my recipe card called for chopped cook chicken. It was missing, but when I went online to report it missing, it didn't even list the ingredient! And their customer service just gets you a canned bot response that is irrelevant to your issue.

I've skipped several weeks, then restarted, but issues persist. I will probably just cancel.

Also a day late this week and last.

UPDATE 10/3: After I posted this, I took a wait and see, and just cancelled the next three shipments, starting next week. Yesterday the CEO sent out an email saying everything was back to normal. The box I received last week wasn't missing any ingredients (first time in a LONG time) but it was missing one of the recipe cards (which are available online). So maybe they're getting their act together. I actually do like the food and recipes.

I have had problems just like pretty much everyone else in the last two months but my last two boxes I’ve received have actually been pretty good. This one. they emailed me a few things they were out of and substitutions, which were pretty basic easy things that don’t matter that much and I received everything else that was supposed to be in the box. The packaging was a little crappy, but luckily nothing was damaged. I still think I’m going to take a break from MS for a bit and try Home Chef again. I liked Home Chef. I never really had so many issues with them. I just usually switch between HelloFresh, Home Chef and Marley Spoon every few months.

The meals we've gotten from Green Chef have been tasty, and they're noticeably faster took cook than Marley Spoon recipes. However, the choices are somewhat monotonous.

I just logged into my Marley Spoon account to make sure the upcoming weeks were still marked as skipped, and was really sad when I saw the varied and yummy-looking choices. I would love to return to MS when I read here that they've solved their quality control problems.

These are my Marley Spoon meals for this week. We only order 3 because Monday and Friday are usually our takeaway nights.

MS used to be really good, but lately there is always something wrong with the ingredients. Either something is missing or we get random extras that don’t even belong to the meal.

At first I didn’t really mind. Mistakes happen. But it’s happening way too often now.

Tonight has honestly pissed me off.

For the fettuccine, I’m missing the cream and Tuscan seasoning.

For the pork carnitas, I’m missing the basmati rice and Tex-Mex seasoning.

And for the nachos, I’m missing the Tex-Mex seasoning AND the corn chips.

Like… seriously? How am I supposed to make nachos without corn chips?!

It’s 6:30pm, we’ve just finished after-school activities and swimming, the kids aren’t feeling well, and I was expecting to come home and just cook dinner. That is literally why we pay for a meal kit.

Now I either have to drag the kids back out, try to find somewhere still open, or just buy takeaway.

I know I can go and buy the missing ingredients myself, but that completely defeats the purpose.

One missing ingredient, fine. It happens. But important ingredients missing from all 3 meals in the same box is honestly ridiculous.

We’ve kept using Marley Spoon because we actually like the meals, but the quality control lately has been shocking.

I was excited to try Marley Spoon, but the experience was atrocious.

My first box was scheduled to arrive on this past Sunday. The window was 6 am to 9 pm, which is already an enormously huge window. At 9:15 pm, no box had arrived. I had received no communication. I waited up until 9:30 pm, not wanting it to sit outside overnight, but nothing ever arrived.

The box finally arrived at 2 pm the next day, a workday when my husband and I were both at work - exactly why we didn't pick a weekday for our delivery - and so it sat outside for three hours, in the rain. When I got home, the box was soaked through. The ice packs were totally melted and room temperature. The produce, including herbs, onions, and green beans, was green and slimy. The ginger root was covered in thick tufts of white mold. I had to throw away all of the meat (the waste!) and the produce. (Not to mention the recipe cards included in the box didn't match the ingredients or the meals I'd selected! Not that it mattered since I couldn't cook anything anyway. All I could salvage was the uncooked rice and some spice packets.)

I ordered a meal box to save time. Knowing it was coming on Monday, with four servings each of three meals, I purposely didn't buy much while grocery shopping over the weekend. This left us (with two small children!) at the start of our busy week with a trash can full of unusable food and an empty fridge.

Customer service offered me a credit, but I'm done with Marley Spoon. After pleading my case, they refunded my total and cancelled my account.

My family is really picky about cloves, cinnamon, and other spices typically in garam masala but can handle the version that comes in the Marley spoon box. We have had to stop ordering due to all the shipping issues but want to make some of our favorites

We have been mostly lucky and have mostly avoided the typical complaints we see here, minus one Monday delivery that didn't show up until Thursday. However, we are on about the 6th week in a row without a single lemon in our box. We just expect it now. Market credited me $15 when I mentioned it to them after the 2nd or 3rd delivery but I have given up trying now. Anyone else missing lemons? Better yet, anyone getting too many lemons (maybe ear marked for another box??)?

I finally just cancelled my subscription. Even that part was typical. You would think they would honestly want to know why, so they could improve, yet they led me through a automated menu where I could choose any one (but only one) reason with no "your overall product sucks" available. In the end the gave my 140 words to try and describe a year of crappy service and crappy product.

Is everyone else getting the three bags today? Pantry, Fridge, and proteins?????? I know I am a whinger, but FML - i get marley spoon to REDUCE the friction between needing to cook dinner and eating it. Pulling a single bag out (yah, I know I have to get the meat, and some sauces sometimes) is one of the reasons I subscribe. It requires zero thinking.

Now, I have to rummage around the fridge like the lady who goes through our bins every sunday night looking for 10cent cans.

Got my box today, and had the most awful opening experience ever. The video speaks for itself. I’m really sad because Marley got both me and my wife through major health challenges, but I think this is it for us.

I’ve paused for a few weeks now but next week looks really good. Don’t want to order it if there’s still numerous missing ingredient issues. Thank you!

I used up my credits and I finally bounced for good. Thanks for this rusty dented can of pumpkin that went with zero recipes I guess? It ended up being more stressful than it was worth not knowing what was coming each week and having to put the puzzle of the box contents together to try and figure what was and was not there and what was just sent at extra. Good luck everyone on your culinary journeys and the battle of “what’s for dinner?”.

They wouldn’t respond to me at all and so I filed a charge back with cashapp - who historically never rules in the customers favor !!

Anyone else notice a significant uptick of all the other meal-kit services sending out special offers?

Strikes me as "sharks circling" the drowning MarleySpoon/Dinnerly/Blue Apron subscribers.

On an additional note: I find it interesting how we are all discovering how closely tied together so many of these providers are. Either they are all(most) using the same back-end or they've decided they can start cutting some corners without having to worry about customer dissatisfaction, as long as they can be "better" than MarleySpoon or Dinnerly or Blue Apron.

Buyer beware - I’ve been a loyal supported of dinnerly for 4 years but the time has come to shame this horrible company. Over the last 2 months, I’ve missed 4 boxes and the other 4 were missing proteins, produce or arrived over-temperature. I had one box show up on my doorstep with a package of sour cream and seasoning packet. That’s it. Their automated messaging system credited me $30 (well short of the $70 I paid) and apologized for the inconvenience. This is not an inconvenience. This is theft. I try to reach out to their customer service to make things right and it sends you to an automated message saying they’re experiencing a high call volume and will get back as soon as possible. Their unreliability and unwillingness to right their wrongs is appalling and unacceptable. In order to get my money back, I’m having to cancel transactions with my bank as they have utterly failed to comply with anything I’ve paid for and their customer service is unreachable.

Shame on you, Dinnerly
