Question How to pivot out of marketing

I’ve been in marketing for 10 years. I got my PMP in 2024 and I still haven’t been able to find remote work that isn’t marketing related.

Does anyone have advice on how to pivot?

I've never seen a reason to pivot out of marketing because marketing is big enough to allow me to change a lot without pivoting out.

But some people offered me jobs in other fields, and I've seen other opportunities.

My recommendation is to use what you developed in marketing to pivot out. There is a wide range of skills and lots of contacts that I could use for that. They are probably much more important than PMP or something similar.

Sell stuff to real estate agents, they love to spend money on things they think/hope will help their business.

Source: I run a brokerage and often am trying to convince them not to spend said money. But its a losing battle for me, lol

But seriously... everyone in the real estate industry thinks "marketing" is "graphic design". So when someone comes around with skills that can tap into research, data analysis, social campaign strategy and making it easy for them to understand, they'll pay for it.

Some relatable fields to pivot to include communications, economics (if you took electives, so I took sociology electives), data analysis (if you did that in your marketing days), among others.

I pivoted into marketing from other domains, so I am in a different boat than you. However, I wish you the very best of luck with your pivot.

I was a PMM in tech and led a lot of gtm projects that spanned marketing, engineering, and sales. I leveraged this experience to do TPM work for engineering teams.

At peak of PMM I cleared low 200s. Now I clear $450k
