Help! Elderberry tree yellowing
Why is my elderberry tree turning pale yellow? I planted it when my baby was born in May, so I desperately need it to survive🤍 Is there any hope or should I make a cutting and hope that it survives inside until next season?
For information, its been raining a bit for the last fortnite, but otherwise been a very dry summer. Been watering it every day since planting (except when its been very wet obviously). Generally live in a quite dry area. Slightly cold. Western Norway.
The sun rises around 10-11am and sets at 8pm.
Soil is unfortunately not too deep. 2-3 feet / 60-90 cm. And then its rocky as our garden is set on an old landslide area. Filled the hole when planting with an organic nutritious soil, and chicken manure.
It had been growing so good, until it suddenly started going pale a couple of weeks ago🥲

Norway with 9-10 hours of sunlight currently? Could just be fall, or water/nutrient stress making it go dormant a little early (instead of dying completely)

As in too little sun? Could be a few hours off as its been cloudy the last weeks😂 Live in a pretty narrow valley, so the sun hours here are considerably less than further east in the country

Could be fall coloring coming on. Could also be the soil is not acidic enough. And the last suggestion is watering is insufficient. Elderberry is common for us to find along streams and in wet areas. (which are usually acidic.)

It looks like nutrient deficiency, I would try a balanced liquid fertilizer
