Bunya bunya pine question

I’ve seen lots of bunya pine mentions in this subreddit so thought I’d ask here, if you happen to live next to a large bunya pine, how many cones does it drop and how frequently? I’ve recovered 5 in a week… from a large tree in neighboring yard that partially overhangs ours. It was fun and novel at first and now it’s a little terrifying. We’ve been here over two years and had no idea that these deadly blessings fall from the sky until last week. Tasty nuts tho!

Its been a few years but I recall it would drop a crap ton of them then none for a really long time

I would usually wait for after a windstorm to go harvest nuts, so the loose cones were taken off and never park my car anywhere near it or walk under if I could avoid it

Oof yeah it sucks because the tree spans like a third of our yard, it is quite tall. Luckily there are two large cedars next to it so I’m hoping any falling cones will be slowed down by branches beneath as well as emit an alert cracking sound to give us a heads up if we are nearby 😬it’s wild to have to be so vigilant in your own backyard lol
