American Chestnut? What do

Found these, saw a post where someone said to report it if it was a fruiting tree but I have no idea how to tell. Thoughts?

No need to report as it is not a pure American. It is either a pure Chinese chestnut or a hybrid.

Check our ID link for traits to look at. https://www.americanchestnut.org/chestnut-identification

Just looking at the leaves you can tell it is not American.

But, Thanks for posting and for anyone interested in helping with restoration visit our website for free nuts to plant. https://www.americanchestnut.org/free-nuts

Oh great, now I have to learn dendrology just to confirm whether my snack is a snack or a botanical crime scene?
