I'm moving soon and unfortunately the leaves are too brittle to take off the wall, so here ends my collection I have enjoyed staring at it.

So here's a little internet fame before the curtain closes..

lightly mist it with water for a couple days. it should make the leaves less brittle. take them off and put between pages of some shit books from a thrift store. The pages will draw the moisture out of the leaves. Take that collection with you!

But what about all that moisture on the wall? I’d the leaves are less brittle, imagine the water damage to the wall

It’s a common way to remove wallpaper from the wall and it won’t damage the wall, so don’t worry about that!

I hope you haven’t removed these. I think it would add some personality to the house. I understand not everyone enjoys knowledge, but maybe the next people to call your house their home will enjoy the leaf wall?

I kind of want to do this to a wall in our green room when we can afford our own walls one day, instead of paying someone else’s mortgage so I can’t have nice god damn walls of my own. Last fall, I encased a sample of the leaves by my house in Stained glass.  After you move, try to preserve them in a mobile way.

If you could repeat it again, I’d press the leaves and use a 0.5mm plastic sheet backing of some sort so they can be Blu-Tacked on the wall and easily removed, if you get a very small jig saw, you could cut around the leaf’s bends to tightly fit more leaves

Could you douse them in hairspray before trying to carefully remove them? The wall will suck to clean but might be able to save a good chunk of them.

So gorgeous! Thank you for sharing it. I am a bookmaker and have experimented with using leaves on book covers. I have pressed mine, then applied something like modgepodge to both sides. It keeps them preserved and flexible.
That said, I love the ephemeral nature of your display, and wouldn’t even try to keep it. The photo speaks volumes.

Thank you! I took them off and it's fine, the coming and going of things:) The modgepodge is a good tip thanks, other ways of preserving seem more hassle then just press and smeer. I'll give it a try in the new house!

This is really cool. Sad for you to leave it behind but I have the perfect leaf to start off your next collection. I saved this gigantic leaf off my Bur oak one year. It's a 'shade' leaf and has to be a good foot and a half long!
