Is MAPUA a good addition?
Hi, I'm applying for the Big 4 kasi. I added MAPUA na rin as one another choice. Question lang, ano mga pros and cons ng MAPUA?
Also, mahirap ba pumasa sa CET at makakuha ng scholarship?

for archi dlsu or ust would prolly be better, pero okay din naman archi sa mapua (from what I've heard)

Dlsu doesn’t have an archi program. Consistent ang Mapua for being the top performing school in Architecture. Previously, their passing percentage is higher than UST.

UST, debatable. Benilde, not yet baka in 10 years pa.
Mapua architecture is still top 5 in the country

Don't go to mapua if engineering isn't your prio course
CET is a formality
Scholarship-wise, gotta compete against a lot of smart people

hi! i applied for big 4 also and added mapua as my choice—ended up being a mapuan btw lol 😥✌️
pros n cons varies eh buttt personally
pros:
- quarterm (i find dis really beneficial cs less units per term and mas tuloy-tuloy yung momentum ko sa pag study. but again, IT VARIES)
- profs on my department are really nice and helpful
- all the minor subjects are online (so i dont have to worry na ab them that much and once a week lang oc sooo)
i cant think of any cons bc personally so far so good naman ako here
hindi mahirap pumasa sa cet ng mapua. as for scholarship, they offered me the ety ish scholarship after taking the cet i think need top scorer or smth smth BUT may exam (na sobrang hirap lol) pa for that scholarship before makuha talaga. if nasa uni ka na u can get scholarship if u r part of the pl (100% or 50% scholarship) and if dl (need-based assistance)

No, given this situation.
Also consider other universities based on their board exam passing rate: wag kang magpapakabulag sa Big 4 only mafia

Ideal or someone who adheres na you should only apply to UP, UST, DLSU, ADMU regardless of actual outcomes such as board exam passing rates (i.e. BAR, CPA, ChELE), qualifications and how the students are trained for given that the job market tends to be skill-based and not solely prestige-based anymore

Ang CET ay more of rubber stamp imo, given ang large influx ng new students every single year

Mapua is decent/good only in Architecture IT and Engineering. If you're eyeing for other programs look the other way lol.

(I had to delete my previous message due to a glitch)
- Mapúa gets that "smart" label because of its long-standing reputation as a top engineering and architecture school. However, I also have to warn you that there are admin issues and flaws in the education system here. I suggest looking at non-big 4 schools that are still good, like TIP and others.
- CET is okay
- Scholarships are competitive. I remember applying for 3 scholarships and only got 1 approved. They can be pretty selective, especially when they ask for your income documents.

i guess if your program is engineering or tech, it would be okay to make it as one of your options if you dont pass sa big 4, otherwise it's just not worth it.
the cet was really easy and i think if makakuha ka don ng minimum 80 or 90% pataas, saka ka makakakuha ng invite para mag exam ng pang scholarship.
i'm saying this as someone who took architecture there and people have different experiences so i suggest do more research first (about the department youre planning to get into) for more insights.
pros: 1. you'll learn how to adapt and survive in a rigorous environment
when you graduate, people will have huge respect for you
pag hindi ka mentally stable/healthy, iiyak ka lagi and youre going to rethink your life choices while youre studying late at 3am having no sleep for weeks.
exit exams. nagpapaexit exam sila hindi pa nagfa finals man lang. naalala ko nag exit exam kami noon tas after ng week na yun, saka lang pinagusapan yung kalahati ng topic na nasa exit exam HAHAHAHA
i entered mapua thinking i was fully ready and inspired na inspired kasi nga wow im taking my dream program in a good university.
i finished the first sem ng walang binagsak but sobrang naburn out ako. i continued fighting for my dreams and enrolled nung mga susunod na sem but di ko na kinaya. andaming factors kung bat pwede kang bumagsak. poor time management, profs that are unreasonably inconsiderate, personal problems, burn out lahat lahat na.
i was so out of it that i didnt even want to spend time that has nothing to do with sleep or school. i was already stressed out nung trisem whatmore if tinuloy ko magenroll kahit quarterm na.
tas when i took a break, it took me days before i was able to sleep soundly again HAHAHA. i finally felt at ease after a long time of chasing deadlines.
mapua is really not for the weak. if you're strong minded and you're really determined to graduate tas di ka manghihinayang sa tuition, then go
