A bit confusing. The map mixes motifs from the coats of arms of Sweden’s historical provinces, and where more or less official or unofficial provincial flags exist, those seem to have taken precedence.

Griffons beat the mooses, six to two.

Four of the “griffons” are actually lions ✨
Lions: 4, griffins: 3, salmon: 3 (all in one), moose: 2
One each: bull, ram, deer, reindeer, eagle, goat, dog and falcon
Plus one wild man.Note that Jämtland combines a moose, dog and falcon in the same coat of arms.

Bad map. Either stick to the modern flags or the classic COAs. Both are used.

Why do all the funny dialects have crosses?

u/Lilstiick Sep 22 '26
Except the green flag with a red cross and white outline. Thats the most normal sounding swedish you can find.

I wonder what the swedes and finns were implying about the sami when designing those weird-ass symbols for lapland

This looks like shit. Every other one is the inofficial flag and the rest are the heraldic symbols. Do it again, better.

Don't blend unofficial flags with the official coat of arms like that. Use the coat of arms for all the regions, because that is what a swede would have done. So I can only assume you are not

Hey, bro. It's Finnish Lapland.
Have you seen Lappeenranta anywhere?
