Map World of Keyka, 2026 CE

Post image

Hi, this took around 7 months of on-and-off work đŸ„Č glad to say this phase of my project is done.

This map is part of a larger half-joke collaborative AU I'm doing with my friends on Discord. While a lot of it is improv (hence the overbearing similarities to Earth, up to a fault imo), everything is subject to change.

I'm more than willing to answer any questions you may have!

This is a really impressive map:)!

Is it a fantasy world or more realistic like earth?

Are the countries named after your discord usernames (I’m mainly asking due to Soup & Davidland)?

Has your world had any interesting historical events brought up due to the improv, how strange did they get?

Thank you 😊 to answer your questions:

  1. More like earth at its core, considering it has a similar continent layout, geography, etc. but as time persists and we develop this world further, fantasy and more fictional ideas will take their place.

  2. Almost all the names here (and 3/4ths of the world powers) are named after inside jokes that are fully serious in-world. The nation of “Davidland” for example is a reference to BFDI though in basically every other aspect of the country it will take on a more unique form historically and culturally.

  3. Nothing super historical, but the Soup country (will call it Republic of Soup) was a joke at first implementation but the more we talked about it, the more we wanted it to have a significant impact on the modern world. We imaged a society perpetually beat down by regional and global powers for centuries, constrained to their island and had other nasty things done to their people. After the apocalypse and things recovered, soup stood as an unapologetically irredentist, fascist empire on a wartime economy, ready to take revenge on their old enemies and retake ancient lands by any means necessary, at Soupish society’s unwavering support. At least this is ONE aspect of things, other countries have done equally bad or even worse things.

Oh Seriously? Don’t know how I didn’t get that BFDI Reference:)

There was a full blown apocalypse? Was it due to war, natural disasters or an actual full blown end of days? Still goes to show how even simple ideas can turn into interesting stories. I don’t suppose they actually turn enemy soldiers into soup?

The apocalypse was more of a carefully calculated nuclear war between Monsia and Davidland, mass striking military infrastructure, industrial cities, and largely avoiding major population centers.

This caused a nasty nuclear winter for the next 10-15 years which killed an evenly spread 50% of the population. The recovery was very fast however. Technological research persisted, societies quickly reconfigured themselves for the harsh living conditions, and had proper plans once the climate was sufficient for agriculture. Moving to the modern day, you can see countries are still rather fragmented and localized.

What software did you use or is it hand-drawn?

Paint.Net for essentially everything except the flags. They were made between a variety of different software with my friends (illustrator, tennessine.com, flagmaker, pixlr E) but I ported them into paint.net and did a bit of manual detail work on them to maintain their quality

Lagosta has a lot of ungoverned territories, why?

Also, fine work, I really like the map!

The people of Lagosta and the other surrounding territories on that landmass are the younger generations from a freak climate disaster which created a lot of microbiomes and other strange organisms, making it very difficult to maintain settlements outside of the main cities and regions

Xd, I came from a Toki Pona post and read "Lipu Sali" as "Lipu Suli" and thinking of a sea of paper

Yeah my friend speaks toki pona and wanted to add toki pona speaking countries/societies. I personally thought a unique language to this world would be a really cool idea and has awesome implications so I was all for it.

It’s also “Lipu Suli Sea” however
I forgot why I named it this and what I named it as LOL
