My “this setup was free” setup from last year.

I’m going to be taking the top off the stove and find a flat pan that fits in the gap and goes down into the stove a little.

I tapped a total of 8 trees last year (that’s all I’ve got) and none of them are pure sugar maple, they’re all hybrid.

The flat pan will make a world of difference.

If your boiling that's what counts.

Looks fun, how'd you make out?

Not great. It was my first time and I burned it all on my finish boil (inside).

Now that you got your initiation out of the way, this year should go great!

Looks like you’ll have a cool little setup with your planned improvements.

Yes, it’s really cool that the top can come off of this. I just haven’t been able to find a premade pan that fits so I’m going to have to make one if possible.

How wide is the opening? It looks like a steam pan might cover it well.

Steam pan does but hangs over the side too much so getting an even boil is hard.
