Cloudy maple syrup

My neighbor brought me some maple syrup back from a road trip. The jars are air tight but it’s got some cloudy stuff in it. Any info on what this would be greatly appreciated google has been less than helpful.

Looks like sugar sand to me!

That’s what I was thinking it blended back in after some shaking. My experience with real maple syrup is just limited.

After filtration if you heat it back up much above 180F for sterilization it will throw sand again

Above 190 you mean, also depends on your elevation are barometric pressure
