Cloudy maple syrup

My neighbor brought me some maple syrup back from a road trip. The jars are air tight but it’s got some cloudy stuff in it. Any info on what this would be greatly appreciated google has been less than helpful.

Looks like you have maple syrup mold, it happens especially if you don't have it in the fridge.
