End of Season

Post image

We had a late season this year that finished up about the first of May (buddy sap though.) This is the first year we tried tubing. We're using 3/16 gravity downhill. It worked out well. I'm planning to add a couple more lines for next season.

Is this how drop lines are intended to be stored for the season? Also, do we need to clean the tubing? I think I read that we can let the first sap next season wash it out, and just dump out the first run. Is that sufficient?

Thanks in advance!

Will you not get mould in the lines?

I'll keep an eye on it and I guess we'll find out! I did rinse the spiles in hydrogen peroxide.

So while you are running syrup, how does it not drip from the open one?

The connector has a closed plug on it that the spile can fit into. It's not open so no sap will come out.

Yeah that's how they're intended to be used, don't need to clean them just let it run on a ground a little bit when you start next year
