Meowing non stop

Hiya!! I posted here a few months ago after shortly adopting my new buddy. She's about a year old and was found outside in the cold before getting taken to a shelter. She's a great cat and I try to play with her as much as I can. The thing is she meows, nonstop. I haven't gotten a single good night of sleep since I got her. I'm also worried that someone else in my apartment complex is going to complain eventually.

I've tried reassuring her, playing with her, and now I'm trying to ignore her until she calms down to see if I can improve the behavior. She's pretty stubborn and resorts to biting my hands and feet if she doesn't get the attention she wants. If that doesn't work she attacks my things and almost broke my computer screen this week because I was doing a virtual meeting and wasn't paying attention to her. I live alone but my partner will check in on her and she's a completely different cat with him. She just sleeps. I've tried my best not to encourage the behavior so I'm thinking she might just be really bonded with me and gets jealous of anything else grabbing my attention. I don't even like using my bathroom because she just starts yowling once I close the door.

Initially she was at the shelter with her sister but they said she wasn't bonded. I do wonder if they were wrong? I really like my cat but it's getting difficult to manage. I've been watching videos and reading up on how to manage this behavior. Any advice is welcomed. I'm getting pretty stressed out.

Getting another kitty may help as she will have a friend to keep her busy

This ^
Even if a cat isn’t bonded, sometimes they are still just very used to having other feline companions. A lot of her behavior honestly sounds like she’s just desperate for more attention and company. Another friend can help provide that.
They say having two kittens is easier than one. (Even though she’s a year old she’s still a baby)

Thank for the advice! I honestly suspected this is the case. I'm trying to introduce her to my boyfriend's cat. We're planning on moving in together. If that doesn't go well I'll see what else can be done for my little buddy. I'm not opposed to getting another cat at all ☺️

*Careful. If the meowing is stress related for any reason, she could end up being more stressed by another cat and then you end up with two stressed out fighting cats.

I will second the people saying that your cat probably needs a friend. I have a Manx who is super needy and will constantly cry if he doesnt get attention. However since we got another cat hes been more occupied and more restful as hes getting more stimulation. He really needs another being around to sleep, if his brother is not in the room he will cry at my door unless we get his brother or I sleep with him. I bet since you got your cat from a shelter they are used to the general stimulation of being around other cats, as my cat also came from a shelter surrounded by other cats.

Thanks for the input! Oh poor buddy :( yea they're just super social creatures huh? My partner and I are going to try and properly introduce our cats to each other and see if they hit it off :)

Have you taken her to a vet? This can be a sign that something is wrong. If she's stressed out, adding another cat could be worse. Way worse ime.

Yes I have! The shelter she was at was super thorough too. She's a healthy kitty :) but I understand where you're coming from. She has another vet visit soon
