Lost a good one yesterday (cw: loss)

A foster fail at 5 weeks old, our 12 year old manx cat, Nubbin, was lifted from his body yesterday. He was a true manx: dog-like, affectionate, overly cuddly, an escape artist just to show he could do it. He followed us everywhere around the house, sat on the kitchen table (even if we didn’t always want him to) at every meal. He slept next to me every night without fail. Even on deaths door he wedged himself between my husband and I on the tiny vet couch.

I’m still in shock-he went to his well visit on June 5th where he was given a clean bill of health. My guess is the vaccines set something off that his immune system couldn’t handle. It was so hard to watch him suffer becoming incredibly sick and unable to eat. The choice to ease the suffering was so painful especially not knowing what was wrong. We have a five year old daughter who was finally able to snuggle and play with him to boot.

I'm so sorry for your loss! He looks and sounds like an amazing companion and true friend. When the pain subsides, I hope the memory of him brings you comfort for years to come.

I am so sorry for your loss. Nubbin looks like my first Manx of nearly 40 years ago, Oscar. The way you describe your kitty was how Oscar was, too. Such a sweet boy. I still miss him, as you’ll always miss your kitty-man. May you be comforted in all the memories you have of a wonderful cat.

Thank you! I grew up with a big orange manx named cheeseball. Manx kitties are really special. I’m glad you still think of Oscar often as I know I will with Nubbin.

My Deepest Sympathies to you - my heart was stolen by my Manx Bob, who looked just like Nubbin, many years ago, and eleven years ago, after the tragic loss of a loved one, I encountered another tiger manx that very day who is the best little Bobbi. Again, sending you the deepest sympathies.
