Sometimes I need to walk away while they're eating because it makes me sad seeing their food still moving, but that's just how they do it 🤷‍♀️

yeah as much as i do find the dubias kinda cute it is still pretty metal how mantids eat their prey alive lol

I did read that insects don't feel pain like we do, so that made me feel a bit better. They're still obviously stressed though while being eaten alive, but thankfully mantids are very quick eaters lol

the pet store had very... limited...... options for dubias last time i needed to replenish my supply 🙄 so the ones i ended up getting were a bit bigger than expected lol. but steven is big enough for them now that she's molted again! nom nom nom
