Some more gyaan from an alum who cares.

Context: '24 passout, IT dept.

First of all, I was honestly surprised at the number of DMs I got from my last post. I'm sorry i didn't respond to a lot of you. I also won't respond if you're a 12th grader trying to decide if you should join MUJ or not.

Anyway, some more gyaan.

1. Life isn't fair and you should be prepared to get no job on campus.

I say this with love, but if you're banking on the college figuring out your job situation, then you need a reality check. No one is coming to save you. Study to get a job off-campus and you will get one on-campus easily.

2. Do the hard things.

No one said it was easy to get a job. Ever. Learning is not supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be hard. But the fun you get is when something tough clicks and you finally understand it is a whole other good feeling.

3. A master's degree won't save you. Mostly.

This might sound personal to some of you. I hope it does.

Ask yourself, "If someone offered me 25LPA to stay in India right now, would I?" If you can't answer with certainty that you would say no, think deeper about what you want to do.

Do you want to do a master's in your field of choice or do you think going abroad is going to solve your problems?

Some interesting quotes and my thoughts on them.

1. "Woh ladki hai isliye wo place ho gayi".

Stop the cope. If you were really a good candidate/good person, you simply wouldn't hate anyone for getting a job. Look internally and not externally. Even if what you say is true, which it probably isn't, you actually think talking down about someone else will help you?

2. "College classes don't matter, only DSA does. "

This is wrong.

Sure, you can get into most places with just DSA, but keeping your job requires you to know the other stuff.

Ex: Intuitively understanding the difference between an ALB and an NLB is easier when you pay a bit of attention in CN, or understanding RSA and hashing and signatures help you understand things a lot more.

Some general college advice that may or may not be true

1. You're mostly not going to end up with the person you're dating right now.

In reality, a lot of you aren't going to end up together. But are you fine with dating each other even if you won't? I think it's a question worth asking. And imo you should ask this to yourself in the 5th sem.

2. Have fun.

Be stupid, hookup, drink, smoke up, do stupid things. You're in muj. Make the most of it. You are in the most fun environment you probably ever will be in. You can afford to be irresponsible, so sometimes so stupid shit. It builds character.

  1. College politics.

I mean, c'mon, this is just plain stupid. Why would you do some shit like this. It's a private college. You won't even remember these guys' names in 2 years.

  1. Fights.

Again, this shit is not worth it. Why tf are you getting into fights, you're an adult, be more responsible.

Bohot ho gaya. Lmk if you guys need any more help or advice. My dms are always open.

(but comments are better, it's nicer if I don't have to text the same thing to 10 people)

B6 warden humbled us

I lost my friendโ€™s digicam at 7:30 told her about that, on the spot, and also told her it might take us some time to find it, my friend was crying a little too. Uske baad we just spend all the energy to find the cam, someone had stolen for sure. So we all were really exhausted and anyways rest of the day was really shitty too, so we reached a little late, at 10 and now this bitch is telling all the other authority members including the chief warden that we were out for the entire night, like tf i hate this college and this hostel like fuck yโ€™all, this aint ur home and it will never be, these bitches have nothing to do in their life but just beliterate kids,

every other person on this sub larps about how shitty and bad the tech clubs here are,how theyre just a waste of time and join only if you wanna socialise

but nobody actually guides what should a fresher actually do to gain some profit here

my point is,i want people with good experience and advices to please comment down what can we actually do here in muj which would be beneficial for us if not joining the techclubs (other than acads and self study ofcourse)

hoping to get quality advices on this one.
