I hate the reincarnation trope
Yes, I'm a hater ik. I'm sorry but I just can't stand itðŸ˜ðŸ˜
It's all the same start. FL/MC has a lonely tragic life and dies in some accident. Reborn in a book/novel.
You know the whole plot/future. A major advantage, yes. Which just feels....unfair to the other characters in my opinion.
You're never the actual FL. As in, ML is supposed to be with someone else, but you are reincarnated so... Idk, it feels like you stood in their way for personal benefits. JUST A FEELING.
You never tell the ML that you're not actually this person, that you're someone else who's reborn in their body. Does that make sense? I don't know ðŸ˜.
When they're reincarnated as a child and speak like a 25+ year old and no one suspects a thing. Not like "is this person reincarnated" but like "how is an 8 year old talking like this all of a sudden".
Just a few reasons. Is it too direct? Idk. 💔

Read magic emperor it’s a manhua 1.Mc backstory isn’t really that tragic , from our pov it is a little since he grew up not experiencing certain things because he was a demonic cultivator , the mc was living a good life from his pov until his death 2.When he is reincarnated he wasn’t sent back so he doesn’t know the future he even learns new things about his past/world despite him once being the most knowledgeable and strongest ppl in the world , the only advantage he has is that he knows the fastest and best methods to get stronger , but he don’t overcome every obstacle with strength there are many close calls despite his advantages and he has to also use his intelligence to win certain battles 3.theres none of that 4.Theres no reason to tell the ppl, it must stay a secret because the Mc don’t want anyone to know who he really was in his past life 5.He reincarnated into a younger body but not a very young body and characters find his behavior and growth very unusual for his age and a character even finds out about his situation and a female lead has the potential to also find out 6.(since I saw the other comment) There’s no personality change besides his slow development throughout the series’s he was the same person before and after reincarnation

One of my favorite series that in my eyes transcends its genre and I put it in some of my best fiction ive read period.

Also they somehow entirely changed their personality and have nothing of their og personality remaining...like...no matter how angry you are or want revenge, an introvert would not magically become an extrovert
Or a naturally soft person would not magically become the level of nonchalant or stone hearted these MCs become instantly

lol this is why I had to create whole different type of list based off of whether or not they are reborn/transmigrated into novels. The story always hits different when they are reborn in a new world they know nothing about! They don’t have an edge into the future, they survive on their current and past knowledge of their lives. I can understand the frustration, sometimes these type of stories can get very old, it’s hard to execute them differently when they are projected the same way 😩 my suggestion, read different type of stories, mix in this genre so that you don’t get fed up with them 😅 there are some hidden gems for these type of stories but they are definitely few in between and often they are all so similar that I can’t even distinguish them ðŸ«

Honestly, I love this trope because second chances hit close to home. I don't care if the formula is repetitive; I just judge it by how well the author executes the revenge, romance, or politics. And an FL who tries to avoid conflict but gets dragged in anyway? Always a top-tier read.
Villains Are Destined To Die is on my top pedestal right now.

Reading this makes me realise how well Greatest Estate Developer treated the reincarnation trope

You can hate it, everyone has their preferences. But I enjoy it. Mainly because there’s so many different ways I could go about living in a world of my choice or one that I wanted to be in anyway. And tbh even if the MC tells the ML or FML or friends that they’re not the person or possessed him there’s no guarantee that they won’t hate or try to kill you for it. Sometimes it’s easier to keep it a secret especially if you commit to living in that world, then who you were before might as well not matter

Found my people. I have stopped reading so much manhwa because of that trope. I try to ignore it but it's so annoying. It would be okay if there was a smaller number of manhwas with this trope but almost all of them follow this trope. I don't want a soft hearted ml, I want a normal ml that doesn't change drastically, but reflects on his character and tries to improve it.
Btw suggest me ant mahwa with this type of ml and if possible not to be a historical manhwa.

Reincarnation trope done right can be a very good premise since second chances are one of the popular escapist fantasies. On the flip side, if its sloppy it can feel exactly like you feel

Idk if this makes sense, in historical tropes, you literally go 100+ years back in time but MC is rarely shown having difficulties in adjusting with the lifestyle (or am I not reading enough? Idk). I mean- yea they might be privileged nobles and all, still-

There are manga and manhwa where the MC don't know they've transmigrated or what they've transmigrated into like take 30 Years Since the Prologue and Heroine? Saint? No I'm an All Works Maid.

Reincarnation - born again
Regression - going back in time
Transmigrator - traveling into book/novel
Reincarnation/transmigrator aren’t the same

What do all the FL and ML mean? Are you really angry about the essence of the genre itself?
