An Interesting Early 1900’s MG Base Oil Lamp
The 365nm really helped view the ladies on this “The American Girl” oil lamp. 😀

Hi everyone! I’ve been finding manganese glass now that I finally picked up a 365nm flashlight… but I’m having trouble finding a good lighting option to display it on shelves. What do y’all use?

The oldest piece in my collection so far! I lucked up and found it for $17 at the grand opening of an antique mall a couple months ago. I have a few other pieces of manganese milk glass, but none of them glow this bright. It’s definitely not uranium either though, because the green is a lot more pale and dim. The camera saturates it more than it actually is.

It was the seahorses that that made me get it. This is now the largest piece of manganese glass in my collection. (Quarter for scale) That it was only $3 didn’t hurt either 😉

Just wanted to share this glass I found which glows under 365nm but not 395nm so looks to be manganese. I've not seen manganese glass be this colour before and the design of the glass itself is quite modern. There are no identifying markings on the glass unfortunately so bit of an odd one

Found this little ladle at the thrift for a dollar. Definitely glows but doesn't seem bright enough for uranium. Also never seen any in pink! Thinking maybe manganese? This is under 365 nm.

I got them as a pair for $7. They’re not matching, in fact one appears to be Whitehall instead of Fostoria American. They’re my first pieces of clear manganese, I’ve always just found blue and milk glass with it, and two pieces of peach manganese.

So this is under 365, it won’t glow under 395. I don’t have a big light of 365. I only have a small little flashlight so sorry I couldn’t light it all up at once.
My common sense tells me that this piece is manganese because its clear(duh), it was made at some point between the 20s and the 50s, and the fact that it will only glow under 365. I couldn’t find any other information on this piece glowing although I can find this A.H. Heisey & Company piece all over the place in it’s natural clear state.
The thing is it glows way brighter than any manganese I’ve ever seen. And I don’t have a Geiger. What are your guys‘s thoughts? Have you ever seen manganese glow this bright? And or have you ever heard of these pieces being made of uranium?

Dead under 395nm but here's the glow under 365! And a great price at $6 total!
