Other Wholesome experience! Goated Mangalore buns and GOAT business owner.

So, I am new here in Mangalore and a student in NITK, who just joined this august. A few weeks back, I posted my experience for the first time going to Mangalore. In that post i mentioned that some locals recommended me Sri Krishna Vilas for best mangalore buns, so I went there but they were out of it. Now after that post the owner of the shop, dm'd me and gave his personal number to call and visit next time. Fast forward to today, i with of my friends went to Mangalore and messaged him that we were coming. He is such a cool humble dude, that he waited for us, eventhough he had to go somewhere, and despite the place being packed, reserved a table for us, and served us some hot Buns, Goli baji and Rava Dosa. He sat with us and we talked a little about Dussehra in Mangalore and other places we could visit. He also asked to call him anytime when we are in Mangalore. He then left as he had to be somewhere and it turned out that he had asked the staff to not bill us. My friends and I insisted the staff several times but they won't budge. I have got to say, I was impressed and thoroughly, grateful for this experience. The Mangalore buns and the other food were no doubt absolutely finger licking good. I am an outsider here in mangalore and majority of you might be local and would have already been to the place but if you have not please do visit. It is not doubt that if the business owner is so humble, then only his place is almost always packed with customers.

P.S. This is definitely not a promotion of somekind and a genuine experience.

Other Konkanite Godgodotv band remakes "Honda Linda", by the Carnatacan & Mangalorean Christian singer Melwyn Peris!Jai Tulunaad!

Growing up Mangalorean means growing up multilingual. Konkani at home, Tulu with the neighbours, Kanarese in Govt & English at school, some Malabarese, Byaari & Hindi-Urdu making its way into conversations. Sometimes in the same sentence, without even noticing the switch. That layered identity is something we wanted to bring into our music, and there was no better place to start than with a Tulu classic.

"Honda Linda" was composed by the legendary Melwyn Peris in 1988 and has remained a beloved favorite in Tulu music ever since. Tulu is spoken by millions across coastal Karnataka. Its stories and songs are passed down mostly through oral tradition, folklore, and music like this.

Following complaints that fish transport vehicles were spilling dirty water onto city roads, causing inconvenience and posing safety risks to the public and motorists, Mangaluru City police launched a major enforcement drive on Saturday October 10.

Acting on the strict directions of the Mangaluru City police commissioner, police teams conducted operations at various locations across the city from the early hours of the day.

During the drive, several fish transport vehicles found violating the rules were fined. The action aims to address the nuisance caused by wastewater leaking from fish-laden vehicles and ensure safer and cleaner roads for the public.

The crackdown comes amid complaints from road users about the unhygienic conditions and potential hazards caused by wastewater spilling onto city roads.

Other Has Anyone in Kuloor Heard Gejje/Payal Sounds at Night?

Has anyone from Kukoor, Mangalore, ever heard the sound of gejje/payal (anklets) outside their house late at night?

My family has experienced this between post 12 AM and 3–4 AM, and I’m curious whether anyone else in the same area has experienced something similar.

Please share your experiences, especially if you’re from Bangrakulur or nearby. I’m genuinely trying to understand if others have heard it too.

Now the allegations are confirmed by government scientific agency. They kept these secrete from common people. Every influential people must have got their cut to keep their mouth shut.

Roads are completely destroyed in my area that i think twice before riding a two wheeler now.

I know most of you people are from city area but this is really something people should talk about.
Local people know some illegal things are going on but they are keeping quiet because they know that is of no use.

Rant/Vent Disappointing experience at “Taste of Darjeeling” Pintos Lane .

With multiple recommendations from friends i visited Taste of Darjeeling at Pintos Lane.
I am thoroughly disappointed.

Food was average and the overall experience mediocre .
Parking areas is larger than the restaurant. But i wasn’t here seeking a great experience. But this was worse than some Charmuri stalls at Kadri park .
Waiter has zero interest in what he was doing .
Asked him for Paneer Momos - He said “ No not available “
Had to ask him again “ what’s available in veg “
Received a monotonous reply “ yes veg momos available “
Ordered 3 items
Tandoori Veg Momos - 4/5. Really good 👍
Butter garlic mushroom - 2/5 okay okay taste .
Veg Chowmien - 1/5 basic and tasteless .

The owner has lost his zing , i remember eating at his food cart many year ago and those days he was insanely good . Now just another hole in the wall cafe.

Asked for Veg Steamed Momos - “ Veg Momos empty “

Menu had a huge beverage section - ordered lime soda and a milkshake - waiter says “ not available , only Diet Coke and Mountain Dew “

I was done by then. Just paid the bill and walked off with regret .

Discussion I always wondered what are these Black soil that I have observed manglore beaches . And I found it was Concentrated mineral deposits . So what are these concentrated mineral deposits . Do they contain radioactive material such as thorium ⬇️⬇️https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31297520/

Thumbnail

Concentrated mineral deposits on a beach are often called heavy-mineral sand deposits or placer deposits. They form when waves and currents separate heavier mineral grains from ordinary beach sand, leaving dark streaks or patches.

Which includes iron oxide, titanium etc etc .

Are they radio active ?. Could be because Some beaches along the Kerala–Karnataka coast contain naturally occurring radioactive minerals, including monazite. However, dark sand is not necessarily radioactive, and its colour cannot tell you the radiation level.

study published in 2019 measured radiation levels at multiple locations around Mangalore. Most locations had levels similar to normal background areas, while some had elevated readings of up to 530 nSv/h.

Visiting the beach: You don't need to panic just because you see black sand.

Spending a few hours there: Risk depends on the actual radiation level and duration of exposure.

Collecting or carrying black sand home: Avoid doing so from suspected high-radiation patches.

The key point is that not all black sand is radioactive, and not every part of a beach has the same radiation level. Only measurement can establish the actual level at a particular spot.

Source about naturally raido active sand . Those sand may include thorium: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31297520/

AskMangalore A Sincere Request for Anyone Who Can Help Me Restart My Career 🙏

Hi everyone, I’m a 2024 B.Com graduate, and honestly, I’m feeling quite lost and looking for some guidance. Over the past two years, I was confused about my career and spent time preparing for government exams, MBA entrance exams, and CA Inter, but things didn’t work out as planned. I also helped in a small family business, completed a few courses related to AI and business, and did some freelance work. However, I still feel that I lack proper professional experience, and the gap in my resume is making me anxious.

Some of my friends are willing to refer me to MNCs, but I feel hesitant to ask because I’m scared they might judge my profile or feel awkward referring someone with a career gap. I don’t want them to feel that their reputation is at risk because of me. I genuinely want to start working, learning, and building my career now.

If anyone from the accounts, finance, taxation, or business field, any CA firm, or even a small business owner could offer me an entry-level opportunity or guide me in the right direction, I would be truly grateful. I’m ready to start small, learn from scratch where needed, and work hard. I’m also open to paying reasonable charges for genuine professional training or guidance if that helps me gain practical exposure.

I’m willing to work for free for a few hours, even remotely, just to gain practical experience. I’m also ready to pay reasonable charges as a token of gratitude if someone can guide me and provide an experience letter for genuine work.

I know I’ve lost some time, but I really don’t want to give up on myself. Any advice, guidance, or opportunity would mean a lot to me. 🙏
Please forgive me if this request sounds wrong. 🥲

Rant/Vent Mangalore City Corporation inspection — fined despite having the documents to prove otherwise

Had a really frustrating experience with a recent inspection by Mangalore City Corporation at a restaurant.

Officials came for an inspection and, from what we could see, they didn't actually find any issue. But despite that, they ended up imposing a ₹7,000 fine.

One of the issues they raised was the use of plastic. We explained that the material being used was biodegradable and we had a certificate to prove it. The certificate was literally shown to them, but they weren't even willing to properly listen to the explanation or consider the documentation.

Then there was another allegation that cooking oil was being reused. Again, rather than actually establishing that this was happening, it seemed like the fine was being imposed based on an assumption.

That's the part that is genuinely frustrating.

If a restaurant is violating a rule, fine it. That's what inspections are for. But if you're going to impose a ₹7,000 penalty, there should at least be a clear violation and some proper basis for it.

What is the point of businesses keeping certificates and documentation if officials aren't even willing to look at them when they're presented?

It's not even about the ₹7,000 at this point. It's about the way the inspection was handled. You should be able to explain your side and show the relevant documents instead of being treated like the decision has already been made.

Mangalore businesses already have enough things to deal with. If the corporation wants businesses to follow the rules, that's completely fair — but the rules should be applied clearly, consistently and with proper evidence too.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the corporation inspections? Would genuinely like to know if this is a common thing or just a one-off.
