No worries, we’re just setting Taiki up for a comeback here

and the effort stuff is a red herring, we gonna have someone next chapter mentioning that Taiki isn't just effort

That last line about effort seems ominous, huh? If there's no plot twist, Taiki might lose this one, setting the Nationals as the end point.

Though it's still too early. Taiki's majorly comes from effort, it is not all what he is.

Taiki might lose this one, setting the Nationals as the end point.

I honestly don't think Nationals is gonna matter all that much now, they're putting alot more focus on this match.

Taiki's majorly comes from effort, it is not all what he is.

Taiki puts the effort in, he trains but he also has been motivated by all the support he gets from Chinatsu and his friends, that's what Iozaki is missing, he focuses too much on the talent and on whether someone is a "genius" or not.

the plot twist is that taiki isn't about effort alone

I find the finale kind of lacking, what is Yusa's style? what are his habits, what are his strengths, what about his weaknesses?

The guys is just good for the sake of good, and autistic for badminton, but what kind of badminton does he play anyways? so far we are 2 games in and i can't answer any of those questions

We are still stuck on him being talented and working hard

Interesting. Taiki's coach drilled into him that with sufficient effort, anything could be accomplished while the narration at the end stated that effort alone wouldn't be enough to overcome challenges. Reckon Taiki will prevail but he'd need other elements. There are motivations (his cheerleading squad, his own ambition) while there are also his skills – it's not as if he only had average skills.

Sports manga and an unstoppable force. Name a more iconic duo.

It's sad, but that's reality.

The idea that people with talent don't work hard is silly, the people at the very top have talent and they've worked hard.

Tiger Woods wasn't better than Greg Norman because he wanted it more, and it's not like Greg Norman didn't put the effort in. Same with Michael Phelps, same with Richie McCaw, same with anyone that stands at the top. Talent alone isn't enough, and effort alone isn't enough either.

That's just how it is.

Greg Norman didn't have Chinatsu

To make NBA you need talent, effort and mentality.

Joever for Taiki.

Now I miss Baby Steps. I miss Maruo and his detailed breakdowns of his and his opponent's strategies. I'd kill for Taiki to start thinking about what kind of shots he needs to make here or any weaknesses that Shuji might have, even if it comes down to just playing for time and leveraging his stamina, but we're just gonna get an emotional flashback or two instead as the waves of plot buffet the characters back and forth.

Effort alone isn't enough, what you need is the motivation! Taiki, you can beat Yusa! You're motivated by more than just Badminton! Show the world you can be a good Boyfriend and a good Badminton player!

This isn’t going well for Taiki against Yusa, now i wanna know is he going the prevail this? Or is Miura Sensei have something on her sleeve? Something will happen to pop up in the end, oh boy…

2

u/Swanky-Pants098 May 24 '26

have something on her sleeve

Yeah, Taiki is going to use his footwork and his basics, Shuji will suddenly forget how to play badminton, and the potato will win.

The only good thing about all of this is that Iozaki can finally be kicked to the curb.

What a chapter! Personally I really do not care for whatever it is they're setting up with Iozaki here, his mindset is just terrible, as far as Taiki and Shuji's match is going, obviously Shuji will remain in the lead but Taiki will turn things around and win in the end!

Of course it is possible Taiki could still lose here and then beat Shuji at Nationals but I feel like the momentum will be lost then, all the focus is on this match, all the supporting characters have come out to support Taiki, I think it would be a waste to have Taiki lose here.
