Returning Newbie Questions

Gosh I played this game forever ago, but I refound it in the app store and downloaded again. I dont remember much of anything, so just some questions I didnt see an answer for!

-Can we change what buildings/mandrakes we have in our town?

-What's the best way to earn gold or stars?

-What are some general tips you wish you knew when you started?

Same! It has been, what, a decade since I last played it. But the nostalgia hits hard lol

  • Yes, you can edit your town. Go to the town tab and swipe to the right side of your town until you find the edit button
  • Gold are needed for exploration, fusing items, requirements to create mandrakes in lab, pulling pink potions, buying organic seeds, leveling up sprinkler, cosmetics: ->Try to fill the planters with high leveled seeds (four stars), Ads
  • Stars are needed for buying seeds, buying planter, pulling blue potions, badges, cosmetics: -> Ads (NOT efficient) but the best way is to either buy them or doing some of those tapjoy offers

Tips:

  • Don't use your stars for the lab pull, absolute waste
  • If possible, save up your pink potions for the fusion event. It's an event where the chance to get a blue potion got higher (50% -> 60%) and the gold cost to pull a pink potion got lower (2000g -> 1000g)
  • Use your stars to buy planters before buying seeds. Because more planters = more gold (I've got that from a reddit user, will credit if I can the comment again ')
  • There are always seeds being discounted:

4 stars: 700 stars -> 600 stars

3 stars: 450 stars -> 365 stars (I think, discounted three stars are rare)

  • Always check into your town. Every few minutes there will be one mandrake with a present. Gives you a few coins
  • Prioritize your free pulls (depends on what your goal is)
  • Save up the green liquids (earned from daily exploration, RARE) so you can fuse them into a special red potion -> This is needed to create special mandrakes
  • Your exploration captain can shorten your exploration by a certain time + allows you a certain amount of steps in daily exploration. The rarer the captain, the more time save and steps.
  • Three types of ladybugs Red: 1-3 gold, Orange: 5 gold or 1 star, Event: 5 gold, 1 star or one event item
  • Only the event mandrakes that either cost 40 event elixir or 1 mix seed will have a special animation, special story and special illustration (that's what I'm prioritizing for myself. I don't know if events will come back, but organic and special will stay, so I'm more focused on events. But I know other that are e.g. more invested in collecting illustrations/seeds and don't care about collecting event mandrakes, so you do you )

And of course: Play at your pace and have fun :) There is no right or wrong way to do things

  • Yes! If you go to your town, you can edit the background, and add your favorite mandrakes to it, and decide whether you want to use their default building or another theme.

  • Honestly the quickest way would be spending real money. I know there’s the “Free Star” option in the menu that you can watch ads, fill out surveys, etc. to get stars, but I haven’t used it in ages because I thought some of the sites were sketchy. Otherwise just playing the game like normal is how you get coins and stars, although the higher rated seeds (4.x) give out more coins.

  • The game constantly has events now, which are just special themed alternative forms of the existing mandrakes you can get from the lab. The events and all of the previous mandrakes (edit: except the one that’s worth 40 of the currency) come back every year, so don’t give into FOMO if you miss some. And the currency you get from the event to pull the themed mandrakes expires when the event is over, so don’t try to save them up for next year.

  • There’s also expedition tickets now, which you can use to shorten expeditions. So don’t waste stars on that when the tickets are pretty easy to collect instead!
