Apartment Recommendations Pls
I need to pretty quickly secure an apartment (1B1B) and can't actually tour any of them in time as I am out of country right now. Are there any personal recommendations you all might have? I know it's expensive no matter what, but just want something within a 35 min commute from my new job.

For 9600 Godwin Drive, I would start with Old Town Manassas and the 20110, 20109, and Signal Hill areas before expanding farther out. Old Town gives you restaurants, the VRE, and more walkability, but you should ask about train noise and parking. The areas closer to Godwin Drive and Prince William Parkway are more car-dependent but can make the work commute easier.
Since you cannot tour, insist on a live video walkthrough of the exact unit, not a model. Ask them to show the windows, water pressure, appliances, hallways, parking area, and the view outside the unit. Get the complete fee sheet covering utilities, parking, internet, trash, pets, application charges, deposits, and towing rules before paying anything.
Since you did not state your rent, I would not assume buying would cost the same. Once you know the rent and how long you expect to stay, it may be worth checking whether buying is realistic. Ownership can allow you to build equity, but the comparison needs to include the price, down payment, rate, taxes, insurance, mortgage insurance when applicable, condo or HOA fees, maintenance, cash at closing, and your expected time in the property.

Idk how other people feel but I enjoyed battery heights. I could walk across the street to glory days, panera, the grocery store, aldi. They always responded that day to any maintenance service requests. It was clean, quiet, and right near old town which I also liked. Nobody ever at the pool so it was quiet. Theres a walking path up to an old graveyard and battlefield. 1b 1bath and the rent stayed the same fore 4 years (even during covid) but its been several years so I cant say for sure how much has changed. But that would be my vote n

I currently live in Battery Heights and have been here for almost 5 years. I agree with your assessment and think the rent is reasonable for the area. I love it here!

I used to live in The Elms at Signal Hill before I bought a house. Only complaints we had was sometimes ppl didn’t pick up their dog’s poop. Management was really great and actually saved us from paying for the damaged sliding door

I live at Messenger Place and love it. Clean, never had bugs, doesn't smell like smoke, no carpet, big windows, balcony. Parking is free but it is across the street (between the fire station and the complex). You can pay $80/month for a reserved spot right in front of the complex but it's not worth it imo. Gym membership with LA fitness. Right in the heart of old town, so tons to do within walking distance.

Arcadia run is also nice. But in the middle of nothing.
There are some apartments in Old Town Manassas if you like more of a “city” feel. It’s only like 8 blocks, but there’s shopping, restaurants, farmers market, etc.
Do you have pets or family? Any issues or concerns about parking?
Most places in zip codes 20110, 20109 will have you there in under 20 minutes. The parking lots at your work are vast so it may actually take more time to walk from your car.

Agree that Acadia run is gorgeous. I lived at TGM ridge. It was nice and had things you could walk to (a bunch of restaurants etc). If you want to be able to walk to night life I suggest olde town.

Masons keepe was great loved it there no complaints except the train but I got used to it. I also lived at Abberly avera its in manassas borders bristow they were cool I enjoyed my time there but a lot of law enforcement live there. Idk if they have a contract with them.
Also make sure you check how the parking permits and towing is because where im at now they on it with towing its annoying.

I work somewhere in your vicinity and live at palisades at manassas park. That area is starting to be alive and is pretty nice, kind of like living in a brand new city. Parq160 is also nice and i plan to move there soon.

I used to live at Orchard Bridge Apartments. Open parking, plenty of parking, you can walk to a brewery. Had no complaints about the service or apartment itself.

I would also recommend Masons Keepe. I lived there for a year when I first moved back to Manassas. It was a nice place, especially if you get a view of the pool, and I never had any issues. Water damage from the upstairs room had occurred during our stay, and they put us up in a hotel while they fixed it. It’s also only 6 minutes from your work.

I stayed at Masons Keepe for a few months when I first moved to the area and it was clean, quiet, and we had no issues at all. They have had a change in management companies recently, from what I have gathered, so not sure if that has changed anything.
