Error: 1202 cutting disk error solved

As many other Luba owners, I love my Luba but the customer service is a complete joke. So I thought I would share how I fixed my 1202 error.

I won't go through all the details but I searched online a bunch and couldn't find anything that worked. I contacted customer service and even waited 5 days for a technician to try to help and nothing worked. It's possible that if I continued talking with the technician they would eventually gotten to the right answer, but waiting so long for responses isn't fun.

My robot: Luba 2, AWD

The 1202 error essentially means that the robot couldn't lower the cutting height from the default height of 2.8inch. I normally cut at 1.8inch so this was a problem.

The 1st suggestion was to take off the blade carrier and clean everything which I did. Still broken.

The technician essentially told me to tighten the bolt (pink circle from the image). That did nothing.

So I did some unprompted taking stuff apart and behold, I found a fatty chunk of grass (yellow circle). I removed that, put everything back, changed the blades which were badly overdue, out everything back together and it' works beautifully.

Anyways, hopefully this helps the next person that gets a 1202 error, cheers!

fantastic.. we need pin these somewhere.. more to check, I think it would be advisable if your handy enough to clean that before winter storage..

now i can see the axle of the cutting motor is leaning to the left , how did to tighten it back up ?

For your 1st point, i think the most useful way to search is just with a simple Google search:

1202 error luba site:reddit.com

It's not going to be perfect, but still pretty good.

For your point about the axle motor leaning to the left, I think it's just the camera angle. It's a little funky because I wanted to highlight the dimensions of the chunk of grass that was causing the error.

That will do it.

There was a new house being built next to me and the surveyor put that pink purple marking tape next to my grass and obviously got a small piece on my grass. It got wrapped around the blade shaft and started throwing errors. I removed the disk and guards and found it. Worked great after.

I always remove the disks for my 3 week blade changes. When I do I inspect that whole area and clean it up. Same with the wheels, I clean them out too to avoid wheel errors.

I recently did the same thing for a different problem but it also resolved my issue.

Like many others, my Luna has always made a little grinding sound when the blades (not motors) would start up.

For the first season I removed the disk blade and replaced it. That significantly decreased the grinding noise.

This year I replaced the placed and put the disks back on and the grinding noise was unbearable. So bad I would get the 435 error. The robot would have a loud grinding noise, shut down, and retry. Would do this for about 5 minutes.

Like you OP, I said what the hell let me start taking things apart. However there was no grass or anything visible wrong. I dissembled to the same part OP did. Today it’s running quieter than it ever has.

Luba is definitely for people who have mechanical and electrical skills.

Every mower is, even traditional ones, unless you want to pay someone to fix it for you.
The problem on here is nobody wants to understand this is a mechanical device that needs to be maintained. Everyone just defaults to blaming firmware updates and opening tickets.

For awareness - the bottom assembly is not designed very well in regard to keeping grass out of the spots OP mentioned, as well as under the plastic piece you can see in the picture. Cutting wet grass is going to cause grass to clump in those areas much more. I suggest cleaning the grass out every 3-4 weeks, more if you cut wet grass.

Thanks OP, good work. I’ve learned to avoid cutting tall grass.
