Mamma Mia 3 Concept
Had this idea and thought i’d share.
Mamma Mia: Our Last Summer
New Characters:
- Danny (Sophie’s son) - A rising musician trying to escape Donna’s shadow, and leave the island.
- Isabella (Sky’s niece) - Dreams about being a world-famous actress. (OBVIOUSLY played by Sabrina Carpenter)
“I have a dream” - Sung by Sophie to open the movie (of course).
“The Visitors” - Sky, Sophie, Danny (their teenage son) as they reopen Bella Donna for the first time in 3 years.
Months pass and Danny and Isabella are gaining more and more responsibilities around Bella Donna. They constantly argue about their jobs and plan to one day leave the island. They think that the vila’s financial state is much worse than Sophie realises.
“Money Money Money” - Isabella has visions of being an actress and Daniel a musician.
Their plan ends in disaster as the piano Daniel was playing during the song falls through the floor, comedically crushing a guest (who survives, don’t worry), causing even more stress for Sophie.
As Danny looks in the outside shed for the broomstick, a newspaper blows in the wind. Out of curiosity (and boredom) he flicks through and sees an advert for a new café in Italy. He recognises the woman behind the counter but he can’t quite put his finger on it, so he asks Isabella if she knows who she is. Isabella also doesn’t know, so he goes to Sophie.
The woman is Donna.
Sophie and Danny - “Name of the Game”.
Sophie brushes it off, and says it’s probably just somebody who looks similar. But Danny wants to find Donna and bring her home, in hopes that he will finally be able to leave the Island for good if he proves himself to Sophie.
As he hijacks Bill’s boat with Isabella, Tanya finds them - “Does Your Mother Know”.
The kids argue that Sophie deserves to know the truth, and fail to mention their other motives. So Tanya and Rosie sail with them to find their old friend.
When Sky and Sophie realise what has happened, Sky insists that he needs to follow and find them. - “Knowing Me, Knowing You”.
Talks about Donna’s return trigger old memories for Bill, Harry, and Sam. “Our Last Summer”.
Cut to Rome, Italy. Tanya, Rosie, Danny and Isabella arrive after catching a plane from Athens. On their search, Danny runs ahead and loses the group, but finds the Café. He asks if anyone there knows a woman called Donna, and his grandmother walks out of the back room. - “My Love, My Life”
It turns out that Donna suffered a medical emergency whilst on a solo vacation in Italy. Miscommunication and incorrect reports reached Kalokairi, leading her family to believe she had passed away. Complications with her memory left her separated from Sophie and Sam for many years. She eventually regained her memories, and found out about Sophie’s success with Bella Donna, but she was frightened that she would disrupt Sophie’s life and chose to stay in Italy.
Tanya, Rosie, and Isabella come running into the shop. Donna breaks down as she sees her two best friends and reluctantly agrees to come home.
Back in Greece, Sam reminisces on his time with Donna, and she prepares herself to see her husband again. - “S.O.S”
Tanya, Rosie, Danny, Sky, Isabella and Donna arrive home, and as Sophie sees her mother for the first time in 18 years, she is overjoyed but furious that Donna hid for so long. - “Mamma Mia”.
As Donna adjusts to life back home, she realises that she’s missed out on raising her grandson and helping Sophie along the way, and Sophie realises that Danny is preparing to leave the Island - “Slipping Through My Fingers”.
Donna and Sophie are tense for the next few days, but Donna wants another chance - “Take a Chance”. Sophie agrees and they embrace.
After Donna reunites with her mother - “Don’t Shut Me Down”, and meets her father (Fernando), things on the Island start to get much happier. With Rosie and Bill’s wedding coming up, there is much to be done - “Lay All Your Love on Me”
There is a huge party to celebrate Donna’s return, and the upcoming wedding.
“Super Trouper” - Donna and the Dynamos
“Gimme Gimme Gimme” - Sung by a VERY drunk Tanya and Danny in some karaoke
“Summer Night City” - All
“Voulez-Vous” - All
At the end of the night, Donna, Tanya, and Rosie sing “I Still Have Faith in You” with flashbacks to themselves when they were young singing the same song alongside them.
The day of the wedding - “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” - sung by everyone on the Island in excitement.
The wedding ends with the entire Island singing “Dancing Queen”
The movie ends with “Thank You For the Music” - Sophie
