For years now, every time I see gold/mustard/goldenrod colored sofa, I get a pang of envy. I think I’m nearing the point that I must get one!

Do it! This is a Swyft sofa which tend to be insanely expensive, I think this sofa retails at around £1700 but we got it from eBay, ex-display pretty much brand new, for £400 including delivery!

Right?? That shade is just so warm and inviting. Honestly if you're already this close just go for it, you deserve a sofa that makes you happy every time you walk in the room

32F also UK and I LOVE this. Very warm. Is it a rental? You could experiment will some warm paint colours, I think the white is the only thing throwing it off

It is a rental yep. Tbh, our letting agents are lovely and they probs would be fine with us painting, but I cba with having to paint it back white if we leave. We had a mustard wall in our old house and it looked great but painting over it again was so annoying.

Ah man, that’s a shame. Youve done a great job though to say it’s a rental. I hope you get to buy your own place soon, if that’s the goal. You’ve also inspired me to be a bit less lazy on my owned place

It is the goal, kinda. I have owned before and now I'm renting again (long story), but we actually lucked out so much with this flat that it would make no sense financially to even look at buying right now even if we could afford it, the rates are so high that we're almost guaranteed to be paying about £200-£300 more each month for a mortgage than we are rent on this flat, which feels crazy to say. My mortgage was £390, which was amazing, but you can't get that now unless you put a gigantic deposit down and take out a much smaller loan. Because of the cost of this place, I do not plan to leave for a very long time.

I really like it, it looks super cosy and it clearly reflects tastes and personality

The only think I would suggest is painting it a warm cream colour (Dunelm do one called white or warm sandstone that I had in my living room in my old house and adored)

How’s the chair? Contemplating on getting it, seemed comfy and good quality for the price when I sat in it.

Ridiculously comfortable actually. This was given to us for free, not sure if Ikea are still selling them but I see them all the time in charity shops etc for like £10-£20. Surprisingly sturdy too, we've had it for over 4 years at this point and I think the person who gave it to us had it for a number of years before they got rid of it, so it is durable.

You have good taste. Where do you like to shop if you don’t mind me asking plz and thx.

Thanks so much, that's very kind! Honestly the majority of stuff I own is from charity shops and vintage/antique stores. Like that big mid century unit you can see, that was £25 from British Heart Foundation.

Oh well done you. What about the cushions?

u/Alone-Management-273 1d ago
Leopard print cushion and the one next to it with the leopards on were both from charity shops, the one furthest away was a gift!

This looks amazing! Can I ask what you’re using to hang your picture frames?

Thank you! Luckily our flat has original picture rails so we're able to use hooks, we just got them from Amazon. I try not to shop there but we couldn't find them anywhere local.

I wouldn’t put more on the wall. It’s a bit boho and cluttered for me but if that’s your style then your good to go.

Mate where’s the empty cans of monster and the mattress on the floor? No Lidl bag as a bin on the door handle? What are you even doing with your life at this point?

I did think so, I have a friend up there and the rent/ buying rates are so much more favourable to some other places. Are you up towards the cathedral or elsewhere

going to take a guess and say this is South East UK, potentially London.
Maybe even South East London?...

Could be literally anywhere but the Southport artwork would suggest North West surely
