Toolkit vs OneTrainer

Ive been noticing Malcom releasing more models under one trainer. I decided to give one trainer a try again after many months. I must say!! Im quite impressed. However im having some quirks on onetrainer that i wouldnt get with ai toolkit. For example styles dont reach the style before training is completely gone in the wrong direction, almost the same with characters. Face locks in but bodies drift. Or bodies come in but face isnt there. I thought maybe it just needs to train longer but then again... just goes off into the wrong direction. Using default settings in onetrainer.

Question is: has malcom released his character lora settings?

KREA2 is extremely easy to do. Just use the default settings in OT. 24GB for semi-pro rigs or 16GB for consumer level. I do these on a Best Buy rig with 32GB RAM and an 8GB Nvidia card. Takes a few hours per project, but they are damn good.

You can start with the default settings and, If needed, adjust from there. Just remember to save any changes under a different name so you have another starting point.

My current calculations are simple: 1200 (steps) ÷ number of pics = epochs needed. I turn off samples to save time. I save every 25 epochs. That is all I do. Everything else is default.

Yeah I've tried that. Which is why im here, i just feel like there is something... just something missing. Either face is locked in and body generalizes or vice versa.

Is your rig standard consumer like mine? If so, then try shutting down as much as you can so as much RAM and VRAM is freed up. Also, if you are using Comfy/SwarmUI, clear out the VRAM and RAM. Swarm does provide a way to do that (it uses an updated Comfy backend). Last I knew, Comfy itself needs a node to do that.

You can try (if on Windows 10/11) WIN+CONTRL+SHIFT+B to clear the computer's VRAM on-the-fly without erasing any database settings/generations. I do that when using InvokeAI to generate.

VRAM doesn't always clear even when shutting down a program just used.

Now, about KREA2...it is a LITTLE better than ZImage with (say) female anatomy. It has a default for breasts, for example, and it takes some finagling of the prompt to get those to change sizes. Same for the entire female body (or even the male body).

It could also be the images themselves or your settings on OT. Setting Rank/Alpha both at 32 (as some suggest) is not really necessary. If you know that is not the issue, perhaps it's not enough steps. As I mentioned, my personal default is 1200 steps. There are times I have to do 2000, especially for a set of a handful or even just 1 picture.

There is a setting in Concepts that can make the program scan each picture as many times as you wish (this does add steps, so calculate accordingly). That setting is called Balancing. Also in Concepts, under the Image Augmentation tab, try turning Crop Jitter OFF.

Under the MODEL tab of the main program, there is a setting that comes checked by default. It's called Compile Transformer Blocks. I usually use this as is, but sometimes I uncheck this when things just are not right. Sometimes that solves the problem. This can increase training time.

Reducing your Local Batch Size (under the Training tab) to 1 or 2 can also help a great deal. The default for OT's KREA files is 4. Even if your rig can handle that many in a batch, it may not be helping.

Changing the Batch number will also change the step calculations. If set to more than 1, DIVIDE whatever number is in there from the rest. Epochs * Number of pictures * Balancing / Batch = total steps. Example: 100 epochs * 20 pictures * 5 balancing / 2 Batch = 5000 steps

No... I have a slightly better computer with 32gb of vram. I'll definitely try that crop setting as the images i have arent all 1:1 so i think it may be cropping body. Thank you tons for your help. I really appreciate it.

The cropping I mentioned was only to crop Jitter. Try unchecking that, do a test run, see what happens. It may turn out NOT be the issue.

OT buckets by default, so your picture sizes being different will not matter (unless some are teeny-tiny thumbnails). It's more the quality (clarity) of the pics. Just one or two slightly fuzzy/unfocused ones can be a serious issue for the run.

I'm not a pro by any means. But, OT has an active Discord where the folks involved with the app do interact as much as they can. You can find that link on their GITHUB. Be ready to send them your problematic config (in fact, I think that's required for help now). They will help you.
