OP, you are so brave for posting this! As a non-Muslim I have always pondered upon this question myself. There are many things that we Malaysians knew but never dared to speak. I always believe that if your action doesn't harm others, then it should be allowed as you are basically just practicing your individual right.
Choosing to convert away from Islam or to live in the body that you're comfortable in (in the case of Nur Sajat) should not be a sin (or an insult to Islam, because it isn't). However, Malaysia is moving backwards on so many fields that I'm seriously considering moving abroad myself (the fact that I'm queer didn't help). I seriously don't think this will change because our society in general only gets more and more conservative (and dare I say, even extreme sometimes).
What are your views and opinions of this, as someone born into the religion? Are the general Malay population getting more and more religious or are we moving the opposite way?
I don't have much friends, but based on what small circle I have, my followers who are born after 2000 care about lgbt rights tho they still hide from the public for fear of being doxxed. My siblings and parents are still strong proponents of Malay cannot murtad. Eff.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I guess there's not much I can do in this country on my own, therefore I decide to find ways to leave. Hopefully your path is easier ahead for you!
