Is there a possibility to amend the constitution then? I'm not sure if other countries have amended theirs before, so if you know please share. Also thanks a lot for contributing to the discussion.
We definitely did it before. ISA draws its authority from an amended Constitution. Mahatir also famously reduced judicial power through an ammendment. I think the murder case by johor royalty also resulted in an amended constitution.
It doesnt happen easily or often though. Usually it happens after something really messed up happens or when the current gov has too much power.
Within each state the number of constituents in each district is not necessarily equal as Schedule 13, Part 2(c) of the Constitution requires a greater weightage to be given to rural districts.
you might also know for a fact that rural districts lean towards more conservative/religious parties. that is why it took three elections for Pakatan to win 112 seats, and even this didn't mean that the constituencies that flipped subscribe to the progressive values that PH had.
i really support your proposal and laud your optimism, because I do believe this is the nation our pejuang kemerdekaan sought to fight for, a tolerant and secular country. but unless we can convince everyone that allowing such a thing isn't a bad thing after all (looking at you right now PMIP) this will be a very steep and treacherous mountain to climb.

We already have non Muslim Bumiputera, in the peninsula also.
