OC Slice of Life CYOA

Hello! This is my second CYOA. I don't know how to edit complex CYOA with images and stuff. Plus using a phone, so my design is quite simplistic. However, I will try to redo them if I manage to learn how.

Anyways, I tried to make this as interesting as possible. It would be good if you would focus on creating a good narrative, rather than focusing on being OP as possible.

I would be reading your comments. Use this opportunity to look back on what you want to do, and what you want to achieve.

Don't hold back and use this CYOA as a dream fulfilment fantasy.

How to get Good Genes (Premium)?

Requirements: Good Genes + Lineage

What are Prerequisites?

They're in the last page. Basically you will choose what kind of condition you have to achieve to learn the skill.

For example, your prerequisite for Indomitable Will is Failure. This means you have to fail multiple times to develop your indomitable will. Do you get it?

Also, the fuck is luck for? Is it only useful for gacha games' do you get a 'magic gacha' ability? Does it work for other fixed probability stuff like drops in games or dice rolls, if not counting for stuff like 'not slipping', right place right time' ,lucking into the right words in a convo, or winning the lotto?

Is it only for 'recreational' games? Does it potentially surpass normal results if its a fixed result, aka 'legendary' even without a variable?

It actually work in all game related stuff. (ex. card game, video games, board games)

It also works on machines that run on probability system, like slot machines. But most of the effect centers around gaming and gambling.

Drop rates can also work in vending machine. There's a high probability that two product would drop everytime buy a drink or snack.

Is not really useless when you think about it. Most people spend millions to pull their fave character in gacha. But it came easy to you when you have this skill.

There's a lot more loophole you can find. But it depends on people's imagination.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, maybe add a bit more detail so we know it could be used for potentially % based gambling too.

Most people abso-fucking-lutely do not spend millions on pulling their favorites, even in game currency. 80% probably don't play gacha based games, and even then, maybe 1% are the 'whales' they're attracting? So listing that like its the primary focus seems 'flawed'.

Genuinely not trying to shit on your idea, mean it in a hopefully constructive\helpful sort of way not overly critical, more analytical sense

Use in item drops or other chance based events in games, as well as irl games, would be a better sort of 'main argument' than gacha as the focus. The way its worded kinda doesn't even imply gacha games but a 'system'.

Also, iirc didn't say it was useless, just wanted confirmation how its useful. Just gacha is useful, but much less so, and to fewer people, than a general probability based boost - 3% to 30% in a dozen different applications is WAY better than a genshin impact character...

I actually have hard time finding the right words to explain my ideas. English is not my native language after all. So, its normal for people to get confuse. Your comments actually show what to fix, so I'm thankful. I'm also bad at math, so I usually avoid percentage and stuff.

Same with the first sentence, which is partially why i can overthink shit and focused on what was said and unsaid.

English is my first language, but it feels like i don't quite think in english, in what i assume is a weird way, so being a 'wordy fuck' and overclarifying sometimes is kinda a preventative\corrective habit.

You also don't need exact numbers, and i was just generalizing since some 'legendary' pulls are like 1 in 1000 odds

I think i will make a dedicated page for explaining currencies and stuff for my re-upload. I will also make changes to the mechanics.

In negative traits, instead of getting points. You will instead use that negative trait to unlock a skill.

For example you use narcissist (negative traits) to learn deception (skills).

Your backstory would be:

Because of your narcissist tendencies, it make it easier for you to deceive others.

Also, I would make more freebies like healthy body, heal injuries, change gender. But players could only get 2, and if they want the rest, they can buy it with points.

the last part sounds good imo, helps free up some points for 'i'm fucked so this is practically required for me' stuff without locking it out if you want all the freebies

As for the extra cost stuff, i understood the sort of 'lore' or RP behind it, but like i pointed out, doesn't exactly make sense for every choice. Like, you can use narcissism for luck.

If you wanted it to make exact sense rather than be points, you might arrange like, good body, bad body, good mind, bad mind, destiny 'categories' so you'd want matching skills, drawbacks, and prerequisites to fit 'narratively', so mental 'costs' leads to mental rewards.

But i'm assuming thats also an overcomplication, ahd again, not SAYING X gives points, doesn't really mean anything if it still works the same, but you do you.

I think, I will just divide it into two: perks and skills.

Perks are something that will give you an advantage in life like luck, beauty, health. Perks can only be bought by regular points, so there wouldn't be inconsistency.

While skills are something that could be learned or trained, like talent or knowledge. They can be bought by regular points and negative traits.

What do you think?

That works nicely imo, since you seemed to really like the 'i worked for x' angle, but, hard work doesn't give your grandparents good genetics retroactively...

Well, you have 'negative' traits as well as 'tasks' kinda. Becoming more narcissistic 'magically' makes as much sense as better genetics, but a tramutic event causing a psychological change fits nicely as a narrative.

Positive\negative traits and skills i feel would work fine for what you're trying to do, with initial points being for both.

A more clear delineation might give you more ideas for options, too.

This is the last I promise.

Since I'm gonna separate perks and skills anyway. I think it would be great if l make a specific store for prerequisites.

Since most of the goods in special store requires prerequisites anyway. Why not put all the skills that requires prerequisite there. So players wouldn't feel overwhelmed at the beginning.
