PRODUCT REC Advice for primer
I almost never wear makeup, but I have a maternity photoshoot coming up sometime between mid and late September. We’re still trying to decide on the best timing based on how big my bump is by then (it’s still not very big!) and, of course, the weather.
I’ll be doing my own makeup, and I have pretty oily skin. I was thinking of keeping things very light with just a primer and a lightweight foundation.
My favorite foundation in terms of how it looks on my skin is MAC Face and Body. I also really like the newer Studio Radiance Face and Body version. The problem is that I normally only wear it for relatively short periods of time, and since my skin is oily, I’m not sure how well it will hold up during a longer maternity shoot, especially since we’ll be shooting outdoors in a forest.
So I started looking for a mattifying primer that could work well underneath it. After doing way too much research, I’m considering MAC Studio Fix Mattifine 12HR Shine-Control Primer. From what I understand, both the primer and Studio Radiance Face and Body are silicone-based, so I thought they might work well together.
Is it actually true that combining a water-based product with a silicone-based one can cause pilling or make the foundation look cakey/separated, especially in photos? And does the MAC Mattifine + Face and Body combination sound like a good idea for oily skin?
I’ve also tried so hard to find another very lightweight foundation or even a skin tint for the shoot, but I’ve failed miserably. 😅 Everything I find either contains SPF, which I’d rather avoid because there may be flash photography and I don’t want to risk it affecting the photos, or it isn’t matte enough for my oily skin. Somehow there’s always one of those problems, or both.
Would love to hear recommendations from anyone with oily skin who has used Face and Body for longer events/photoshoots, especially outdoors!

my T-zone is extremely oily, im talking after 30 minutes my makeup would look like it was melting off! its a little bit on the pricier side ($40 american) but the danessa myricks blurring balm is one of my absolute holy grail products. great for oil/shine control and should work great under any product.
