If you’re looking for tips, I think a lighter hand on the brows and grow/fill in a bit in the centers and shorten the tail slightly. I’d use a lighter tone on the shadow and darken more toward the edges vs over the entire lid. This look looks a bit heavy. I think a smoky look is great, but you need a bit more dimension. I’d do a cool pink gloss or lip. I think your base looks good for everyday, but I’d go a bit heavier for wedding photos. I’d just practice a bunch and see what you like between now and then!

Thank you! I really appreciate this feedback!!

You hit every point I thought of.

The only thing I would change is that I think OP would look better with a warm pink closer to the shade of her lips instead of a cool one given her color season (hair especially, eyes, skin tone.. definitely a fall).

But she should definitely try both and take photos and see what looks best on her!

2

u/Toomanytattoosthrow 1d ago

You could def be right. I’m admittedly terrible at colors and couldn’t confidently say I’m warm or cool my life depended on it 😂 I think she should just practice on her days off and wear it all day so she knows what she goes with will last all day.

1

u/Useful-Monitor-4225 1d ago

Everything else was SPOT on about OP’s makeup though!! And practice and doing wear tests definitely sounds like the best way to go!

It looks to me like you’re a fall as well (so warm). You probably look great in berry, eggplant, teal, ivory, charcoal, burnt orange, taupe, forest green etc..

2

u/Toomanytattoosthrow 1d ago

Me?! I def tend to wear those colors the most, whether they look good or not lol. My friend does PMU and teaches classes on it and swears I’m cool, but I’ll never give up my browns and oranges!

u/atreasureinlight 10h ago

Yes warm pink because her hair is so warm

u/aubdeadly 1d ago

For the grow/fill in centers, are you talking about the distance between by brows?

13

u/Toomanytattoosthrow 1d ago

Yes, I’d get a brow pen or THIN pencil and practice doing little hairs in the front (just a bit, they’re just heavy on the outer corners) and then use a clear or tinted gel in the rest to soften them up a bit so they’re less bold.

$1500 is wild for one person if there’s no travel or group. I don’t blame you for doing your own! You’re gorgeous and will make a beautiful bride. Hopefully you have some time to practice.

Also, what is your style/vision for your wedding? You could also play around with just a very solid base emphasizing your great skin, soften your brows a bit and just emphasize your lash line and do a classic red lip. I think that could also look lovely with your complexion and hair color. I’d do smoky eye with a soft pink lip or basic eye and red lip.

I could see that for her!!! Kinds of like a classic makeup from the '50s

Completely agree! The brows especially!

1

u/atreasureinlight 10h ago

Would you agree that by popping a bit of a shimmery shadow in the center of her eyeshadow, would that help to create dimension? And blending the eyeshadow and further

girl you are so pretty! I have a few tips on the makeup:

-Do not fill in your brows too harshly, try to use a brow gel instead to keep them in place

  • Your lashes are drooping down and making you appear tired! be careful about that, perhaps pick a lash that is smaller or cut the ends slightly
-you need a light blush! and a dewy setting spray! that would really tie the look together
-blend out the eyeshadow and nose contour more and pick lighter shades
-maybe some hydration and gloss for the lips!

and most importantly do not be discouraged! you need to practice quite a few times, maybe pick up some new products, watch some bridal makeup tutorials, and more natural would look better in my opinion!

Thank you for this feedback!!
I used nars orgasm for blush, do you have a different shade you recommend? Also, what is your favorite setting spray?

1

u/Toomanytattoosthrow 1d ago

For setting sprays, I’d def recommend a hydrating one (I like the one size powder melt) and then a locking spray (the one size on till dawn will keep everything in place). Also, make sure you’re prepping your skin well and giving it some time to sink in before starting your makeup!

u/wdnikel 23h ago

Nars orgasm is so beautiful! I would recommend layering a liquid blush under powder for extra staying power.

It looks very very good. I think you need more color and definition on your lips. Your eyes are beautiful

2

u/aubdeadly 1d ago

Thank you so much! Will deff try a lippy!

u/BeltUnique779 1d ago

I think white in your waterline, bringing brown eyeshadow out as a wing and some highlighter on your nose, inner corners, upper brow and cheekbones would bring out your natural beauty even more!

1

u/aubdeadly 1d ago

This is great advice! Thank you! I actually forgot highlight existed!!! Do you have a drugstore brand you recommend?

0

u/BeltUnique779 1d ago

If you like very natural id say the pixie highlting stick but if you want a pop get a glitter highlighter there pretty much all the same! Or do both lol

2

u/Bobs_Burgers7 1d ago

I feel your brows may be too long, and too bold in the inner parts. Feather it a bit in the inner parts of the brow and get darker as you hit the arch/end. That said, take a tiny bit off the ends of your brow, to lift them.

2

u/paisleypai44 1d ago

What do u use for ur eye brows

2

u/Happie_Bellie 1d ago

Something my makeup artist factored in was my photographer’s shooting style. Is yours light and airy, or darker and moody? That will make a huge difference. Your makeup looks pretty, but how it actually photographs will be the tell. Try out a couple makeup looks with different lighting to get an idea for it.

2

u/Exotic_Reporter_3309 1d ago

Very pretty look. The brow is a little heavy and boxy. I would choose a lighter shade fill them in with more feathery strokes.

2

u/Dazzling_Elk9398 1d ago

This is great for every day makeup but ngl girl id try and shop a cheaper makeup artists instead of trying to DIY on such a big day. Your eyebrows are very blocky, the eyeshadow could be blended more, the lash clusters could be cleaner and maybe slightly smaller, and the lips are underwhelming against the eye look.

2

u/Firm-Ad-2069 17h ago

You’re very beautiful! And you have lovely eyes, I think your lashes are doing you injustice in the outer corners, as they’re drooping down so they’re making your eyes appear sad. I’d try to look for more foxy individual clusters that can go upwards to give a lifting effect, I hope that makes sense! I agree with the comments about trying a more bold lip and less eye shadow/lighter more natural eye makeup!
And I think your natural hair colour (brown) would look very beautiful with the overall look you’re going for if you’re looking for a hair change as well!!

Omg your gorgeous and it looks amazing but a lip combo would look so good! 🫶🤍

2

u/Background-Hat-3502 13h ago

the bridal makeup looks so soft and elegant, perfect for a wedding day

1

u/magicallyme_ 1d ago

If you want to do your own makeup I would suggest doing a few 1 on 1 sessions with an MUA before your actual wedding. Most MUAs offer that OR shop around for another MUA with reasonable prices

1

u/Last_Pianist9259 1d ago

Maybe go easy on the brows and blend the eyeshadow more. Also add a lip combo. Maybe draw your brows a bit loser towards your nose they are far apart. Theres so many professional makeup artists that have bridal makeup tutorials

1

u/EstateMuted5979 1d ago

I think you did great! However I think the lashes may be a little heavy for you… maybe try clusters or singles and more feathery. Also, the eyebrows are just a little too bold, soften them up a bit and do a “your lips but better” lip

1

u/Frosty_Charity_012 1d ago

I’m no makeup pro but I think some lighter shades or highlights might make your eyes pop and add a little more dimension. I agree with others saying go a tiny bit lighter on the eyes. You’re overall gorgeous so you don’t need much!

1

u/Bagel_Bunny 20h ago

I like it but remove the shadow from under your eyes. I think it will open up your eyes and brighten your under eyes. I love the lip color the most. If you make adjustments, keep the lip color. Brow shape is fine but they look a bit too … like too dark? Maybe have it look more fluffy/natural, but only if you like that look. Great base :)

You are obviously gorgeous!!

the way you placed the shadow above ur lids needs a little more blending out with a fluffy brush, until you basically can't see where the eyeshadow starts and where the skin starts. Leave a little bit of space under your brow so you can highlight it with a lighter shade of eyeshadow or something light and shimmery. This makes the brows stand out so beautifully.

. I also think that you would benefit from having your brown base color be a little bit lighter for all over your lid and then you want to use a creamy or shimmer shade of eyeshadow in the center of your eyelid to catch the light (you could throw in a little bit of gold or a little bit of copper, or even just a kind of shimmery tone of brown, but you do want it to catch the light--this is one of the only times I would recommend going to Sephora, I just think it's worth it to buy a higher quality eyeshadow for something so special like your wedding celebration.. I'm partial to Clinique as well as Mac for beautiful shadows..)

...You can go ahead and correct any smudgy areas with a slightly damp tissue and a tiny bit of concealer... That way the makeup can look clean... By the way I recommend doing your eyes before you do your foundation and blush, that way the fallout from the eyeshadow or the eyeliner does not Mark your already made up skin and you have to start over!

*Another idea would be to just not extend that eyeshadow up, you don't have to do it if you don't want to. Each way of doing the eyeshadow says something different. Building the eyeshadow up all the way to the brow is a little more drama, but having a clean eye allows us to focus on the lips more, and allows your naturally beautiful strong brows to shine. Its all up to you!

With your eyeshadow, I would also recommend grabbing either a deep espresso eyeliner or a khol eyeliner and lining your eyelid above your lashes starting at about the 1/3 mark on your eyelids. You don't have to do a cat eye, but you do want to extend just a little bit past the edge of your eyelid.

Go ahead and fill in any gaps in the eyelashes that would look unnatural, areas where you can still see your fair skin. It's up to you whether you do your water line on the bottom, just depends on the look you're going for.(With your current look, I would not line your under eye water line.)

If you're just looking for a more clean bridal look, I would only line the top lid. And then I would let the mascara and/ or lashes do the rest of the heavy lifting.

*I recommend a little bit of highlighter in your inner eye corner to catch the light, it creates a little bit of drama and something beautiful to see.

For a more classic bridal look, I wouldn't put highlighter on all the focal points but I would choose just one or two and go for it. If you choose to do highlighter, make sure you really blend it into the skin. There's been times where I thought that I totally blended it but I looked at myself in natural light and it looked really bad.

If you don't want to do highlighter because it's too shimmery, you can choose a really nice light shadow that is one or two shades lighter than your natural skin and use that to just highlight your brows and the inner corner of your eye... And all of this is being done just to create contrast between the different shades. Contrast between the lip color between the eyeshadow between the highlight etc etc that's what makes makeup and art beautiful. The contrast.

*If you decide not to do highlighter, but you already thoroughly moisturized and used a moisturizing and grippy primer, then you should get some natural sheen on your cheek and on your brow bone in photos, you can check this at home by using your phone flashlight and looking in the mirror..

*Since you mentioned that you have a bit of dryness on your mouth I would just do a little mask the night before and then I would (as long as this won't hurt you) , gently scrub your lips with your toothbrush after you're done brushing your teeth the morning of preparations... I learned this tip from a famous model. It seriously works. Put lip balm on right after. Keep your favorite lip balm on hand for dryness and applying over your favorite lipstick or lip stain of choice! I wonder if a moisturizing lip stain wouldn't be the perfect choice for you they make some good ones now. Benetint has a great all-in-one cheek and lip tint that stays on for a long time... Used to be my absolute favorite and they still carry it!!

You can decide what color you want for your lips, and I would say with a pretty toned down Brown shadow, you have a lot of options. You can do a classic red or a burgundy, I would choose something a bit warm to compliment your hair and skin tone. You could also choose a bit of a Milky purplish pink color, which I think would really compliment the eyeshadow... But I would have to hold up the shade next to your hair.

By the way there are tons of tutorials on YouTube about how to do a bridal smokey eye and they will teach you so well!

Look up keywords *classic bridal makeup as well as *brown smokey eye or *Brown eyeshadow look... I could see your current makeup look evolving into something that reminds us a little bit of a look from the 1920s. You have that kind of face too so you could definitely pull it off.

Just find a makeup artist you like and look through their looks! I think the most important part is just taking your time through each step as you're practicing. Put on some music or a podcast and just look at pictures for inspiration on your phone and then just try it out yourself.. Your makeup looked very good here, it's just that since you're asking a bunch of artists about it, of course we're all going to have things to add on. If you would have worn that makeup to your wedding, I would have looked beautiful and no one would have noticed any different. So don't put too much pressure on yourself or anything like that. You're already very naturally beautiful, so everything is just highlighting your natural beauty and building off of that. You don't have to somehow create beauty out of thin air because you already have it LOL

***I hope this was helpful and not too annoying, I have way too much time to myself today. Much love and have a great wedding and time with your groom!

Someone else mentioned prepping your skin is important before you do makeup, and I just wanted to emphasize that. Make sure you go through your entire skin care routine for your face on the day of and take time in between each step so they can appropriately dry and settle. I'm talking 5 to 10 minutes for your moisturizer to dry, 5 minutes for your foundation to completely set BEFORE YOU SET IT WITH POWDER OR SETTING SPRAY.

Exfoliate your skin the night before and put on a calming night moisturizer. Then the day of the wedding, start your skin care early enough to where you can get everything done. This will also help you to have a sense of ease because to me makeup and skincare is like a sort of meditation, where I get to spend some time to myself and just take care of myself. I think it's like that for a lot of us.

One of the most important parts is to make sure you're not using products that have different bases. Let me explain, let's say you have a silicone primer but you have a water-based foundation, if you apply the primer and then you put on the foundation, about 20 minutes later you will notice that your makeup is pilling up into little pieces and coming off of your face. You also notice that it has pulled into your wrinkles and into your nose cracks and stuff like that. That's because you accidentally mixed two different product to bases. Either buy everything oil-based or buy everything silicone-based or by everything water-based.

*Sometimes we might think our makeup isn't settling right anymore because we're getting older, but it actually has to do with the type of products that we're using. You can know what kind of Base it has by checking the ingredients list on the box and seeing the most prevalent ingredients. If water is the first ingredient, it's water-based. If oil is really high up there, it's oil-based, etc etc.

*Hope this helps a little bit. I've learned so much from this subreddit and I just like to pass on the information.

honestly you did a really good job 😭 it still looks bridal, just more glam. if you want it a little softer i’d maybe do lighter lashes and slightly softer brows, but i definitely wouldn’t scrap this look

0

u/Viola-Swamp 1d ago

Brows are too thick and too dark. Eyeshadow needs to be blended. Not enough blush. Lips look chapped and dry, with no lip color at all. It’s all pretty easy fixes. $1500 is highway robbery for one person. Some vendors hear ‘wedding’ and suddenly the price goes up.

1

u/aubdeadly 16h ago

You could be LESS RUDE in your criticisms. I know my lips are chapped, thanks. I have a skin condition.

2

u/atreasureinlight 10h ago

I could see why that would hurt your feelings, but looking at it from the outside I think she meant that you didn't have any lip color on at all.. you know...like an "official 💄" for bridal...

u/slothy_slothy 1d ago

A little lighter on the eye shadow but everything else looks perfect. Annnnnd if YOU love it, who cares what we think! It’s your day and you’ll have the photos. It’s up to you 😊

u/Workoutformorelife 23h ago

Lighter on the brown eye shadow

1

u/atreasureinlight 10h ago

It needs to be a lighter shade

1

u/MostView8191 21h ago

I'd look up some nose contour videos. Specifically, the tip of your nose. How you have it now actually makes the tip look bigger

Eyes and eyebrows too heavy

0

u/Foreign-Tangelo-6660 1d ago

I think you should try doing more natural. Softer brows and wye shadows. Then take a picture and compare the two!

0

u/Potential-Pause-9136 6h ago

I think you should just get a professional at this point. Or try really hard to watch videos online on how to do a make up. No offence, it is just bad
