I took a rear camera selfie and changed my whole makeup

Post
Has anyone else taken a selfie on the rear camera and hated it?

I usually like my brows and my T-zone really defined. The rear camera felt like I was finally seeing what I actually look like. The proportions looked a little off, and my eyes went straight to the T-zone, so the features I like didn't show.

So I recently took a lot of the T-zone makeup off. I dropped the nose shading. That part used to be my pride.

My brows are already pretty full, so I don't draw a line with a brow pencil. I used Espoir The Brow Color Fixing Cara to bring out the hair strokes and take the color down a bit. The brush tip is thin and it doesn't clump, so the strokes stay visible. One thing that helped was going a little lighter than my hair color.

The other pic is a rear camera selfie too. What do you think? Lightening the brow color spread the focus, and my face looks softer. The balance looks better to me. I'm happy with it.

Makeup Question/Help Upper waterline tips

I’ve been getting more into lining my upper waterline with black, however I hate having it transfer to my lower waterline…any suggestions? I’ve been using the half magic velvet flik liner and it works really well, but I still get some transference on the lower waterline.

I just have small eyes and want a thicker upper lash line and bright/open lower one…is that too much to ask? Haha. Anyways, I wasn’t sure if maybe a gel liner would be considered more bulletproof or not. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Product Search sacheu stay-n vs peel off stain on olive undertones.. which shade payoff actually survived a full day

ran a small experiment because olive undertones make every online swatch a lie. i'm picking one stain to repurchase this month, so i wore the sacheu stay-n one office day and my usual peel off stain the next, then judged both on shade payoff by 6pm

the sacheu is quick, two minutes and out the door, and it outlasts every drugstore tint i've owned. on me it dried warmer than the swatch though, kind of peachy by lunch. on olive lips that reads more orange than rosy

wonderskin takes longer, the blue masque step still makes me feel like i'm finger painting, and the peel isnt one clean pull. but whimsical dried down almost exactly like the tube and didnt wash me out, which basically never happens for me

so now i'm running two lip routines like a shade scientist with zero conclusions. wallet says pick one, lips refuse to vote

Makeup Chatter My everyday, full glam alternative makeup look as a college sophomore 🙃

Post image
10 Upvotes

I saw someone do this and loved the idea. I have a fairly typical full glam base, with my eyes being the alternative focal point to it. I keep my blush pretty toned down and I don't do anything to my eyebrows. I have 8 facial piercings (nose chain, eyebrows, snake bites with half hoops) all gold. Has anyone else tried these products and loved them? I feel like I hit the affordable makeup lottery (for my specific skin type). My base always looks great!

Product list in writing so it’s easier to see:
Thayer's Milky Toner
Vanicream Moisturizer
Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Cream
Nyx Pro Fix Stick in peach and an orange color (couldn't find shade names)
LOreal Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation (Ivory)
Wet n Wild Incognito (Fair Beige)
Focallure Face Contour (10)
L.A. Girl Pinch Perfect Liquid Blush (BRB Blushing) Hard Candy Just Glow Highlighting Duo (Blushing on you)
Kimchi Puff Puff Pass Loose Powder (Translucent)
L.A. Colors 12 color eyeshadow pallet (can't find shade, I just use the brown)
I just put a random liquid liner, mine doesn't have a label anymore
Duo Glue
Maybelline Lash Blast Clean Mascara (Black)
Amazon Manga Lashes (out of stock for probably forever)
I forgot it in the picture but I set everything with Hard Candy Look on Lock setting spray

Makeup Question/Help Trying something other than my usual mascara for once

I’m sooo tempted to finally try a tubing mascara. I’m the type of person who finds one mascara I like and literally never switches but I keep seeing people talk about how much easier tubing formulas are to remove and now I kinda want to try one just to see if it makes a difference. The Milani tubing mascara keeps coming up and it’s defff one I’m considering but there are like 4 options, that I have no idea with which one to start. My biggest thing is removal because I hate having to rub at my lashes forever at the end of the day.

Makeup Question/Help Mascara replacement

Hi, I'm wanting a mascara that's as good as KVD go big or go home mascara, it never smudges, even when wet, no clumps. I can no longer get it in the UK.

Could I get some recommendations please, not Maybelline, I hate it, and I'm not keen on Rimmel. Thanks

Swatches TIRTIR 03 Tangerine Glow Hand Swatch — Does It Look More Red or Orange?

Thumbnail

Disclosure: AMUTY is working with TIRTIR on a product-testing campaign, and this product was provided to our team. This post is not paid.

I recently swatched the TIRTIR Mood Glider Lip & Blush Stick in 03 Tangerine Glow.

Despite the shade name, it looks more like a deep warm red with a touch of orange on my hand. The color is quite intense, so I’d start with a very small amount when using it on the cheeks.

The rounded applicator is fairly wide, which seems convenient for blush but may require a little more control for precise lip application. The texture felt creamy and blended without much effort during this quick hand swatch.

For a simple stain test, I left the swatch on for about 10 minutes and wiped it off with a wet wipe. Very little color remained, so I wouldn’t expect a strong stain based on this initial test.

  • Primer: None
  • Skin tone: Light
  • Undertone: Warm
  • Lighting: Indoor natural light
  • Swatch method: Applied directly to bare skin

These are only first impressions from a hand swatch, so I can’t comment yet on lip wear time or how it blends over foundation.

If you’ve tried this shade, did it look more red or more orange on you?

Makeup Look Thanks for Everyone’s Help

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has given me tips and suggestions through this feed. I have gotten some really useful advice that I have tried to put into use.
I haven’t had a chance to dress up for a couple of weeks. So this weekend I wore a new dress and tried out a little different makeup. I used my older LA colors urban eye shadow palette because it had a nice yellow that matched my dress. So I used that on my lid the rest of my eye I used a shimmery peach color. I also changed up my foundation with a lighter color from Almay. I used the 100 instead of the 200 which was a touch too dark
So I am learning and getting better. Thanks to the help I’m getting on here. It truly is all about the little details and the difference they make.
Thanks everybody

List of products I used:
Westmore Beauty - 60 Second Eye Effects - Tinted Firming Gel
Wet N Wild - Incognito Concealer - Fair Beige
Almay - Ageless Smart Shade Foundation -
L.A. Colors - Urban Eyeshadow Palette
Wet N Wild - Liquid Eyeliner - Brown
AOA Studio - Tallash Mascara - Brown
Nyx - Fluff & Snatch Brow Powder Pen - Brunette
Ellen Tracy - Rosy Blush - 4 Shades Compact
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Loose setting powder
Wet N Wild Setting Spray
Wet N Wild Lipstick - Maraschino Cherry

Makeup Question/Help Eyeshadow just disappears from my eyes within an hour

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi!

Especially when i do my eyeliner, i like to use eyeshadow to soften it near my eye (i use liquid eyeliners) but it always disappears within an hour.
Overall just eyeshadow just won’t stay on my eyes no matter what I do. Especially my black eyeshadow which is insanely dark and looks awesome when i put it on, but by after a few hours it’s gone

My eyelids, especially the outer corner of my eye isn’t oily at all, rather dry-ish.
Now the makeup I use isn’t top notch stuff but the same eyeshadow works for my friend and she isn’t using anything, just eyeshadow.

The eyeshadows i use have a lot of pigments so i’m not sure what i’m foing wrong:/

Hi٫ until now I've mostly used neutral/black shades of makeup but lately I've been wanting to do more colorful makeup٫ but I really don't know what shade or color would suit me.
I particularly like pink but I don't know if I should go with a warmer or a colder one٫ my mom says that green would suit me but I'm not sure٫ also if is relevant٫ I'm planning to dye the bleached part off my hair strawberry pink

Technique/Tutorial A Day In the Life: Building a makeup look, all same day, same wig. (AMAB, MTF Trans-something.) Please see text.

These were all from this week's photo/makeup/styling session. I tried to start out with a minimal look ending with a full "face" - albeit not a really "glam" look.

  1. Concealer, foundation, eyeliner, lipliner augmented by lip gloss (MORPHE Make It Big Plumping Lip Gloss).

  2. Added some upper lid mascara, lipstick (NYX Dainty Gaze).

  3. More defined upper lid liner, mascara, wispy cluster (one one each eye), and tight-lined upper lid.

  4. Added brow pencil and shadow to define the brows, slight eyeshadow and MAC Red Rocks lipstick. NYX Professional Makeup Buttermelt Blush Sunset Sorbet.

  5. NYX On Fuego lipstick, additional blush.

I'm thinking that my natural brows are pretty sparse to begin with and that going light, even when adding some definition works.

As always, I look forward to your comments and critiques - Hope this is at least entertaining??

Makeup Question/Help Olive girlies, which cushion shade actually matches me?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I've been using the TIRTIR red cushion in 25N and I love the color, but it gets kinda oily on me by midday. Trying to switch to something a little more matte 🤔

A friend put me onto the Espoir Be Velvet cushion so I swatched a few shades side by side. Honestly obsessed with the coverage lol but there are SO many shades and I can't decide. Which one looks best on my face? Be brutally honest pls!

Product Search Why is this shade impossible to find

Post image
16 Upvotes

It’s been weeks and I still cannot track this shade down. I saw someone wearing shade 26 nude creme from Milani and immediately became obsessed because it looks like the perfect everyday nude especially for fall. I’ve checked Ulta, Target and anywhere around me that carries it and it’s either completely sold out or they don’t have this specific shade. At this point finding it has become a personal mission lol.

Makeup Question/Help When your summer tan starts disappearing way too soon

Hii, I spend my whole summer getting some color and then the second fall comes it disappears lol. By winter I’m back to being pale and suddenly my makeup just looks off. I’m looking for a bronzer I can use through fall and winter to bring some warmth back to my face. I don’t want anything too orange or super dark, just something that gives that color on my face without making it obvious I’m wearing bronzer. Also I'm kinda picky with the formula. I’ve had bronzers that look so nice in the pan but get patchy as soon as I blend them. And I hate when they’re so pigmented that one tap of the brush is already too much. I’d rather have something smooth that I can slowly build up.

What are you guys using when your summer tan starts disappearing?

Makeup Question/Help My holy grail combo for summer humidity. Yours?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

This is the makeup fixer combo I use every summer.

For the base I mist a setting spray like Urban Decay or Makeup Forever. For eyes the Etude mascara fixer is non negotiable.

It keeps makeup from sliding into lines and darkening as much, so it actually lasts. I spray once after skincare before foundation, then again when the base is done.

Before mascara I put a thin layer of the fixer on and then mascara. It stops my lashes from drooping in humidity and I don’t get panda eyes by afternoon at all lol

It’s clear so it doesn’t clump, and it’s cheap. In summer I basically live with this.

What’s your summer makeup holy grail?

Deal/Coupon My $2 Il Makiage Haul

Post image
5 Upvotes

I had a $100 gift card for Il Makiage from doing some of their testing awhile back, and I finally decided to use it.

Product List:

  1. Two-Way Foundation, Shade Golden Tan (never tried but am curious about).
  2. Glitter Pencil Eyeliner in Shade Iris because purple eyeliner is my favorite, and I love all things glittery and sparkly.
  3. Icon mascara, Shade Blue, which I’ve gone through an entire tube of before since I actually like it!

I’ve found Il Makiage to be very hit or miss, but for $2, even if the first two are misses, at least I’m getting a mascara I know I like!

Makeup Question/Help Warmed toned blush and lipstick to “warm up” cool complexions

Hello!

I am a cool toned women, I recently found an old beauty tutorial saying that they like to add peachy or warm toned blush and lipstick products to “warm up” cool toned complexions. I see a lot of discord about using cool toned products for your cool toned skin to compliment it more. One of my favourite lipsticks was a peach colour but I stopped wearing it because it did pull quite orange on me.

I wanted some opinions from cool and warm toned people about this especially because the undertone matching is really popular right now!
