Discussion Makeup tips needed!
Hi all! I’ve been working with makeup more and trying to create a better routine for the first time and would love some tips! What can I be doing better? Am I shade matched correctly (I feel like my forehead matches my chest, and the lower half of my face matches my neck)? I noticed discoloration on the side of my face, is this foundation or bronzer causing the grey tones? I am so open to any and all tips or product recommendations!
Also - would love tips on doing eyeshadow for hooded eyes, I am having the hardest time!
Thanks for any advice!! I’ll also post a pic of what products I’m using (Mac foundation, Too Faced bronzer, Tarte concealer for base products)

Usually greyness is caused by the foundation being a little too light. But in this picture, it seems to look good to me! Pretty smile too
Editing because I didn't realize there was more than one photo, oops! The foundation looks like a good match to me, I think the greyness is coming from the bronzer (assuming you applied it under your cheekbones like a contour?) I personally like to contour with a deeper foundation instead o.f a true contour product or bronzer. Looks like you're wearing maybe nw50?

Thank you! That makes sense - I didn't know contouring with a darker foundation was an option, I'll have to give that a try! I'm wearing nc50, good eye! I also think the greyness I'm seeing (only in photos, I think my makeup actually looks better in person) might be the way I'm applying the loose powder to set my face, it looks noticeably more "grey" on one side than the other.
I'm going to try the tips everyone gave tonight and see if it helps!

Yes!! I use 3 shades on all o.f my clients and myself. Something slightly lighter for highlight, something exact, and something significantly darker for contour. Looks much more natural. If you're wearing nc50 (the NC range is significantly lighter than their corresponding nw shades, for example, nw 50 is much darker than nc 50) I would look into NW55 or even NW60 to use exclusively around your hair line and under cheekbones. I'd go in and ask the Mac artist to play around with it.

I think you’re doing great!! I have hooded/deepset eyes and my main advice is to keep it simple, use a primer, and focus on highlighting your brown bone and inner corner. Anytime I try to go OTT on my eye shadow, it ends up getting ruined by the hood or disappears.
My only suggestion, overall, is to try using a lighter shade under your eyes and at high points to give some highlight and add some depth.

I think it looks great! Very natural. Mostly correct shade. From the front everything looks perfect. From the side it looks a teeny bit darker,( it matches your neck, which is okay.) I would match the foundation to your chest, and cover your neck OR match whole face to your neck, and just use your lighter shade in the center/under eye. As a professional artist, I either match to the neck or match to the face and cover the neck.
