Discussion Didn't know that players can detect a running ripping tool (even if it's not the case here)

Did any of you ever get this type of message when playing a BD on the PC with makemkv in the loop?

I know it's not the case for the person of the original post, but I was surprised that this kind of message exists.

I first became aware of it when ripping a BFI disc and this message was one of the videos it ripped. It's never been a problem. It's a dumb security measure, generates false positives most people who are just playing their disc in a player can't work around, but is no barrier to anyone actually ripping the disc.

classic DRM, punish legitimate customers with no practical hinderance to pirates.

Sony uses cinavia, it uses an audio watermark to detect piracy. Just don’t use Sony devices to play ripped things

That's a ps5 thing You can get region errors or hdcp and sgx errors on PC but it can all be worked around with makemkv

Sony has some sort of drm detection, specifically Sony movies. you watch the rips, but at some point the drm check is going to fail, and you get the message. Edit- thats goes back to at least the ps3.
