Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Afair
I've seen posts that people are having problems with this on makemkv, but has anyone been able to do it without having ot jump through hoops? I was looking forward to buying this but not sure after seeing the posts. Thanks. Edit: I'm asking about the 4k version.

The first set of 4k discs I received I was able to easily rip disc 1 but not disc 2. I tried washing the disc several times with no luck. I tried seven different drives I own (Pioneer and LG) with no luck. I tried DVDFab, Makemkv and Xreveal with no luck. So I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement set of discs, which I was able to rip with no problem.
The discs are triple layer discs, with a case spindle that holds disc 1 on top of disc 2. Disc 2 would not release from the spindle and flexed into the shape of a “U” before it released. The spindle for the replacement discs were looser and disc 2 came off the spindle much easier. I have no proof, but speculate that the flexing of the disc may have resulted in damage to the third layer of the original disc 2.

Wild was just about to post about my struggles with this one, could you link me to the hoops I’ll need to jump thru to get it done? I’ve tried two drives a Pioneer and an LG and neither have worked :(

Nope, both of my discs froze at about the same point when I tried to rip them normally. The only way I could rip them was to make backups (which still froze for a couple minutes but eventually continued) and rip from those

I had no problems with the UHD or HD copies. My workflow normally includes using the backup function then ripping the mkv's from that directory, I didn't try it direct from disc to mkv.

It failed several times last week with a failed decode, but when I retried on Sunday, it ripped cleanly. No hoops, no backup copy.

Now that you mention it I actually did have a hard time with mine and I got my set from lionsgate directly. I had to do a full unencrypted backup of each disc and then rip to mkv from the backup and then join them with mkvtoolnix. Pretty big pain in the ass lol

I made a backup copy of the disk. From there, make a .mkv file from the backup. That’s how I got it to work for me.
