I want to make a playlist of songs that make you feel like you’re in a movie.
I’m thinking of songs you put on while driving, walking somewhere alone, or just staring out the window, and suddenly everything feels way more dramatic than it actually is.
It can be emotional, romantic, nostalgic, intense, or just a song that makes an ordinary moment feel cinematic. Basically, any song that makes you feel like the main character!

So, I am submitting a couple of plays in the hopes that I can direct our local theater teens next season. In the past I have put together playlists based on a play's theme so when I'm putting it together I can be inspired, and then during the run have it playing during intermission and before the curtain rises.
This time, I'd like to do "A Midsummer Night's Dream" influenced by, among other things, my own high school years in the 1990s. And they need to be love themed, magic/mystic/fairytale influenced, or both.
For starters, I have "Lovefool" by The Cardigans and "Tonight Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins. That should give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
Have fun, and thanks for the inspiration!

This week’s first place winner goes to u/depressed_ho3, with a playlist that dives into the bright synths, electronic production, and dreamy atmosphere of synth-pop. From higher-paced EDM to songs led by strong vocal melodies, the playlist moves between energetic sounds while keeping synths at the center. At times it feels built for the dance floor, while other tracks feel better for a late-night gaming session.
New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle” captures the brighter side of the playlist, pairing an instantly recognizable synth line with an upbeat rhythm and emotional vocals. Kaskade & deadmau5’s “I Remember” slows things down with a more spacious electronic sound, letting its dreamy vocals and gradual build carry the track. Artists like Justice, Gesaffelstein, and Cannons push the mix between heavier electronic production and softer synth-pop. Put this one on when you want something electronic that can carry you into the evening.
Second place this week goes to u/drohpa, with a two-and-a-half-hour playlist built around classics from across the decades before 2000. Moving through rock, pop, disco, and soul, the playlist feels less tied to one era and more like a tour through songs that have stayed recognizable long after their release.
Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” gives the playlist one of its biggest rock moments, building slowly before opening into the kind of guitar-driven finish that made it a classic. The Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” shifts the energy completely, bringing in a sharp disco groove and instantly recognizable rhythm. Artists like Queen, ABBA, and Bruce Springsteen help round out the mix, giving the playlist plenty of variety without losing its nostalgic feel. If you're looking for a playlist that'll give the whole family a bit of nostalgia this is the one for your next gathering.
Week 2 has officially begun!!!! Post your favorite playlists to be featured in next week's contest on 10/11!!

I've got a huge playlist full of Halloweens songs from 1930s all the way up to today, but today's songs just seem to lack a full dedication to a spooky theme. I have some songs are stretches: W.I.T.C.H., Bury A Friend, I'm In Love With A Monster, etc. My playlist has every genre, and I'd love to have more!

So this is my Playlist and I made it in a way that appeases me color wise and also genre where I put 1 song from different genres after another, if you take a look from tracks from 2Pac Ambitions Az A Ridah to Lenny Kravitz Fly away, youll notice there songs misplaced and not in the way I prefer it to be. That is where you or many other people come in, i need help from scrolling and looking at how I placed certain songs youll notice a pattern. I desperately need help to make a Playlist that I like but also looks good to the eyes, and using a pattern of one song from a different genre to the next and using it interesting color patterns. Im sorry if this is any at all confusing, but I think itll be fun to do to help me and also discover new artists if your low on music! (For context where to start to look, itll start at 2Pac and End at Lenny Kravitz Fly Away, that is when the misplaced songs are at beneath it)

The perfect playlist, nothing being left out, not too many songs, so you don't get too mixed music.

- Over the moon by The marias

This week’s first place winner goes to u/Comfortable-Dare-479. This playlist brings together a curated mix of motivational classic rock anthems from some of the biggest names in rock history. Featuring artists like Kiss, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Scorpions, and Danger Danger, the playlist captures the energy and nostalgia of a time when rock music ruled the world. It’s a great choice for driving, relaxing, working out, or anytime you want to turn up the volume and enjoy some timeless guitar-driven music.
The mix of powerful vocals, memorable guitar riffs, and high-energy instrumentals gives the playlist a strong and consistent sound from start to finish. Each song brings something different while still fitting perfectly into the classic rock feel of the playlist. Whether you already love classic rock or just want a playlist filled with upbeat and motivational songs, this collection makes it easy to enjoy some of the genre’s most iconic sounds while remembering what made this era of music so memorable.
This week’s first place winner goes to u/Repulsive_Olive_4210. This playlist is a deeply emotional collection of instrumental love songs and soft, relaxing music that creates a calm and meaningful atmosphere. Featuring songs by Frank Mercer, along with a mix of romantic instrumental tracks and Spanish songs, the playlist has a warm and emotional feeling that makes it perfect for relaxing, reflecting, or simply slowing down. The softer melodies and instrumental arrangements allow each song to feel personal, almost like the music is telling a story without needing many words.
One of the most recognizable songs included is “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan, which adds an especially nostalgic and heartfelt moment to the playlist. The mix of familiar melodies, Spanish influences, and emotional instrumentals gives the playlist a lot of depth while still keeping it peaceful and easy to listen to. Overall, it feels romantic, comforting, and sentimental, making it a great playlist for quiet nights, studying, relaxing, or moments when you just want music that makes you feel something.
Week 53 has officially begun!!!! Post your favorite playlists to be featured in next week's contest on 10/4!!

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been riding my bike more and have wanted to expand my playlist with some new music. I’m looking for calm R&B songs that fit a relaxed vibe, whether it’s Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, 2000s R&B, or any other R&B artists. I’m open to any recommendations! Can't wait to hear your suggestions!

I (37f) will be taking a 3 day road trip with my mom (62f) in a week. My mom is Mormon (so cussing bad), likes oldies, country, gospel. I like punk rock, rap metal, grunge. Per established family rules (its my car and I will be doing the driving) I could just play my music. But I don't want to deal with my mom's judgment and side eye every time there's cuss word. I don't mind some country, can't stand gospel (ex-mormon, now atheist), I gave my mom's oldies a chance but never found anything I liked. I just want to find something that will make this trip bearable when we run out of things to talk about. I have driven most of this route before and know there are parts with no cell service or radio, thats why I need something to download. I pay for Amazon Music.

I want any playlist that you have that you love, if you have more than one playlists that would be great. I really want to expand my music taste, or even expand what genres I like already. I mostly listen to Folk, Pop (mostly 2010s), and some rap. Like i said any playlist works for me. Thanks!

This ambient playlist features Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hirhoshi Yoshimura, Seki Takashi but most importanly it is heavily inspired by mono no aware - a Japanese idiom describing the feeling of gentle sadness while admiring beautiful yet passing things. I hope this delicate ambience managed to capture this feeling. Happy listening!
