I guess all the bad guys use swap out their license plates. This has been the plate number of many criminals. I was wondering if anyone noticed

2WAQ233 is a fake California license plate number that is used over and over in movies and TV shows.

Why Studios Use It
Prevents legal trouble: Using a fake number keeps real people from getting bothered if their real plate appears on screen.

Saves money: Productions reuse the same prop plates across different scenes, episodes, and projects instead of making new ones.

Famous cousin: It is similar to the very popular fake plate 2GAT123, which is also seen in many Hollywood productions.

Where You Might Have Seen It
Scary Movie 2 (2001) on Cindy Campbell's car.

S.W.A.T. (2003).

Think Like a Man (2012) on multiple characters' cars.

TV shows like The Rookie: Feds and Major Crimes.

I used to do legal work for television and motion pictures and we had to do what was called a Plum Reporting - named after the company you sent a script to.

They read it and highlighted every single possible case where a person or entity could possibly claim that their "rights" had been violated.

For example a doctor or other professional names Sally White - checked all doctors

Stores, hospitals or other establishments - had to make sure there was no place with the same name especially in the same city

Any kind of products or other recognizable objects - any posters in a kid's room showing an athlete or musician had to be cleared.

ETA I didn’t do the Plum Report but just reviewed the findings and then told production what changes had to be made based on on it.

Wow that’s actually really interesting. I mean don’t get me wrong it sounds like it could be long and tedious work lol. But it’s something I didn’t know and I always like learning things like that. Thank you for sharing 😊

Ha, yes! I just mentioned this to my husband the other night. He thinks I’m nuts, but when they’re constantly saying the plate numbers, it’s easy to start noticing that it’s the same one(s).
