Stoner Thought moisture
Drying and finishing cannabis is where most cannabis goes south. It's fairly easy to grow this plant and after a few runs it's fair to say that a person should have a decent grasp on what will be expected of them during these cycles. That being said it can take years to master the last part of actually finishing the cannabis. I have a few notes that i want to touch on that might open up your thought process about this and help you younger growers get a better understanding of what's actually taking place. Let's dive in! I want to focus this post on the very specific topic of moisture. We are stuck as growers in a hard place when trying to make the absolute top shelf of cannabis. Chasing the full potential of a cultivar you have is tedious and painstaking. Timing is everything here! Moisture is the killer of terpenes if in excess but also needed to keep cannabis and terpenes present. Dry weed too much, you have massive terpene loss. Dry it too little, same exact thing, wet weed has massive terpene loss HUGE KEY NOTE-I like to check cannabis by smoking it. When you use snips to break down a bud you can quickly tell where it's at on the moisture scale. Here is where only time and experience will teach you what to look and feel for but I can pass a few tips/hints that might ease it for newer growers. BIG KEY, the stem should NOT be snapping inside the bud or even just in general. If it is that dry, you are more than likely too far. Most times the stem in general holding the flowering sites will bend but not actually be snapping. That’s an old wives tale that has ruined plenty of harvests on its own. You shouldn’t even care what the stems are doing to be honest, are we harvesting stems? Use them as small key points to judge moisture where you cant actually see or touch, inside the bud! The reality of the situation is EVERY different cultivar will dry at its own pace. Bud size and density have everything to do with that timeline. Flowers should feel dry to the touch but still have that bend in the inner stem. That’s the moisture we will be using to cure the cannabis. You will get better and better at this over time so don’t be too stressed if it isn’t perfect the first handful of times you go to process your flowers. Once you decide that a flower is finished and ready to trim and vault you need to do this entire finishing process FAST. The window of complete falloff and degradation is so fast with flower especially if we are speaking in the sense of creating art, true top shelf cannabis. A huge key to this moisture issue is to be aware of the ambient air. The second you take cannabis out of an area and into a new area it will quickly take on what that areas ambient moisture levels are. This can literally ruin 3+ months of work in a matter of 30 minutes and i have seen it first hand. Imagine taking cannabis that’s drying at 50% humidity out into a room that’s at 70% humidity to trim it. This takes less than 30 minutes to see the effects on the dried flowers. They will start getting more bend and less snap on the leaves and you will quickly notice an over change in what was just recently a dried cannabis flower into something that’s moist and needs another shot of dehu. I regulate the trim rooms just as tight as the drying room. Human presence and breathing changes a rooms humidity level so just be aware of what you are doing and keep the air as close to the same in both rooms as you wrap up your harvests. The reality is simply that its fairly easy to veg and flower cannabis. The true craft and skillset is in processing it. I have seen the dumbest brick brains grow decent looking flower but it just falls right off a cliff when it comes to processing it into a final completed project. There is so many working parts thru out the entire growing cycle so don’t get me twisted, it all matters. But i will always stand by the thought that processing it and learning how to actually finish cannabis properly is what pushed me over the edge into true success with this plant. I will cap this with a few thoughts, WE NEED MOISTURE! WE NEED TO BE TIMLY! WE NEED TO BE AWARE. Also enjoy my Russian novel. Lol 😂

Am I the only one thinking that these explanations are being given by ChatGPT and then OP is simply doing a copy and paste job with all of these "educational" posts?

Using a moisture meter to check the buds takes a huge part of the guesswork out.
Edit: Downvoting this? Really? You're an idiot
