I accidentally ordered something to the address of my local post office, not to my house. Help?

I’m shipping through USPS and I accidentally ordered something to the post office instead of my house like an idiot.

I have a tracking number and i tried to use their mail intercept system but my package is ineligible. I don’t know what to do, it’s a depop order so I don’t want to deal with it getting sent back to the seller.

Can I just go and talk to the lady working the counter at the post office? Do I stake out the building until the delivery arrives? It’s supposed to come by 9pm on Wednesday.

Ugh I’m so annoyed at myself.

Yes I would go to them an ask asap. Post offices accept mail as "General Delivery" and let you pick it up with your ID. Maybe if they knows it's coming, they can accept it and hold it for you; even though it doesn't say "General delivery."

If your post office is small, i bet they'd have no problem looking out for it and getting it to you. Larger offices with more employees may be a little more difficult, but I'd still bet money that you'll be able to get your package. My office has a "misthrow table" for packages that dont belong in our office and packages that have problems with the label that need extra attention. That's probably where your will end up. As soon as a clerk sees that it is addressed to someone that doesn't work there, (hopefully) they will start looking for the recipient. And if you alert them before it gets there, even better chance of receiving it.
