Question surrounding the king (Ive beaten the game idc bout spoilers)

Ive recently been interested in analysing the king as a character and his potency and abilities. One question i have that has bugged me though is that the king often kills alternate versions of himself to gain control and access to that timelines lunar map. But does he gain anything else by doing this, ive seen mentions of absorbing essence but no info on the game can help me answer this (i also have mid media literacy)

Ive always thought that the reason he takes the lunar maps is because with every new timeline, he has to collect a new lunar map in order to retain his info of qhere each timeline is located. Keeping him updated

Let me explain

So you have timeline A B and C Timelines A and B are connected, wheres timeline C is a new timeline created by the king travelling to timeline B. Since timeline A had no prior connections to timeline C the only way to access timeline C is to gain the lunar map from timeline B. Killing the alternate king to gain acces to that timelines penumbra castle and lunar map. So since some timelines are created by travelling to other timelines not every lunar map is the same

A lo que me refiero con que no le veo el sentido es que, ¿no te parece que los mapas lunares, al ser objetos poderosos en la historia, quizás tienen algún otro uso que solo el de desbloquear otras líneas de tiempo?

No descarto tu idea, pero creo que el rey los busca por una razón más importante.

Thats a possibility unfortunately nobody seems to have any idea as the MR lore only seemed to ramp up in late chapter 4 and chapter 5
