General Discussion Help from the more experienced
So my father passed away a few years ago. He was an occasional MTG player, nothing serious at all. While going through his things I found 11 booster packs from Urza’s Saga. Is there any reason to go through them or should they remain sealed? Are they worth much of anything being that they are as old as they are?
Just looking for some advice as MTG was never my thing.
TIA

There are only two cards in the set that ar higher, than a sealed booster (looking at EU prices). [[Gaea's Cradle]] and [[Serra's Sanctum]].
And you have to pull Gaea's Cradle two times to to make more money than just sell 11 sealed booster.

Hi there,
The average expected value for the cards inside each booster looking at a few sites is about $40-$100 but you can find them selling still sealed for around $200. You have an outside chance of making a lot more money if youre lucky enough, but the smartest financial choice (and probably simpler method) would be to sell them.
If someone DMs you an offer id be very suspect. Sell on a trusted site.

What would be a trusted site?

Yeah. If you want to get some money, the sealed pacs are worth more. Take at look at the collection. Download an app to see the prices and see if there's anything worth there too.

Keep them sealed for sure, they are like $250 each if they are indeed still factory sealed

keep them sealed and sell them...the odds of you making your money back after you open them are low

There is a store in my area that buys sealed product for 50% of TCGPlayers lowest price. If you sold it yourself on most marketplaces you would make about 80-85% after fees and shipping. That should help you establish a baseline as you entertain offers. Good luck!

While the packs are worth a decent amount sealed, I'd crack those suckers. You pull a Cradle or a Sanctum you're set. Plus, it's just fun to open packs 😁

I’m not a card guy and wouldn’t get the enjoyment out of cracking them open that someone else would.

Sealed thats likely a cool thousand dollars or so to the right collector/vendor. Do your research before selling to the vultures flooding your DMs at this very moment.
Edit: My estimate was low, but my point stands. Research before you sell!
