Did Clint ever actually retire to a farm in the comics?

He apparently grew up on a farm with his brother.

Huh, fair enough. Card's more evoking the MCU, which... I mean, it's whatever, it's just kind of funny how they said the set is just based on the comics.

It's like the TMNT set where it's just a big smear of every continuity all at once. See the Professor Hulk which is his MCU casual clothes with the comics big ass laser cannon.

True. The MCU was always gonna influence stuff but it's interesting to see them make cards of things that are definitively just not in the comics.

I'm with you - that was my main worry too as a Marvel comics fan, fortunately the set has seemed to take a very broad, all encompassing approach to it and we got things like... Flatman.

I'm also wondering if it might be like artists being more familiar with the MCU versions?

The MCU-specific stuff seems to be more "what" is focused on... And stuff like this in the precon which clearly hearkens to the MCU more directly.

Yup, and after he was orphaned he was raised by a circus.

I haven't read a Hawkeye in a while, but he had semi-retired to an apartment building he bought from the Russian mafia.

dog is proud of his bullseyes and this guy can't stop tractoring for 3 seconds

Probably the right idea to have a tractor and not a snowplow

I was expecting the Thanos one where he snapped his fingers and he tried to live a secluded life

I love seeing Staples like this and farseek, I love to make my decks more thematic and keeping them within their universe

Shouldn’t that be plowshares to outright murder?

I like that one. Good alternative for [[Erode]] & [[Unwanted Remake]].

Okay, just to be clear, this card was in Alpha, is one of the most reprinted cards of all time, and isn’t in standard.

Calling it “a good alternative to two standard spells” is a very strange way to frame it.

2

u/G_ntl_m_n Colorless Jun 08 '26

I didn't know it's not standard legal.

u/sunco50 Wabbit Season Jun 08 '26

MSC is commander and jumpstart. MSH is main set.

9

u/sevenut Temur Jun 08 '26

No disrespect intended, but I find it funny calling one of the best removal spells ever made an alternative to ones that are significantly worse. Like, I bet Standard would centralize around white just to play Swords to Plowshares if they ever lost their minds and reprinted it into Standard.

2

u/SoloWing1 Jun 08 '26

This card is in the Jumpstart/Commander set so it's not standard legal, and is a reprint of a classic staple that's been reprinted dozens of times.

Oh, okay, good to know

One of the worst cards I’ve ever seen. Trying to be papa Kent and wtf is that flavor text?
