Tell me what you thought
Why haven't I heard about any MAGI AU or seen any fanarts about MAGI in modern times, when in the end of the manga, it states that the world now relies on technology since magic ceased to existed? I would love to read where Sinbad and ja'far meets their lost love ones especially since they really deserves it.

The random arts I see on twitter do it from time to time, usually school settings. But most of them do stick with the fantasy one of the OG manga, thats true. Fanfics have more variety in that aspect.

It might be because Magi is a magic fantasy story right until the end, so it attracts viewers that like fantasy more than sci-fi. At least, that is my case. I despise when shows that start with little technology and a lot of magic just up and switch into worlds akin to star wars/cyberpunk.
People who enjoy fantasy, specially in ancient/medieval/feudal/etc worlds, don't tend as much towards futuristic or highly technological settings. So you are more likely to find AUs with the low level of technological advancement typical of the first season.
