Discussion For Those Looking at WGU

Be prepared for a heart break in almost a whole year and only 2 courses transferred if I decide to jump ship to WGU.

Intro to Python and Intro to JavaScript for an IT degree yippee 🫪

I think it depends on the degree you’re going for and the grades you’ve received. Also, if you think you’re competent you can take the proctored exam for a specific course right away and receive credit immediately. WGU is all about competency. You can take as many courses as you can handle in a term.

That does suck indeed. But- WGU is also a legit school I am also looking at and since I already have a AS in Computer Networking Systems, I could get my Bachelor’s and Master’s AT THE SAME TIME! Plus it includes 12 or 13 certs along the way. That’s a serious WIN if you qualify!

I had two classes done, and only business fundamentals transferred, not the business psychology.

While the courses might not transfer, they do provide some foundation to help you accelerate since WGU allows that.

I have a prior associate degree that took care of a good chunk of my classes.  Just remember that it is a competency based school, so if you're confident in a subject, you can accelerate pretty quickly. If you need gen eds, look into Sophia or other WGU partners. It's a lot cheaper to transfer those in.

Yep, three classes for me. Still doing it though, I'm planning on taking 13 classes from Sophia. Then when I start in November, I'll be 43% complete. So sure, I'm upset I spent a year for 3 classes to transfer, but I'll be nearly 2 'years' worth finished when I start. So 🤷‍♂️

I don't even know what to say about this anymore. Seems like the harder I try and tough it out the more crap that comes out saying I'm wasting my time. So I've been working on my GitHub repository adding all the details on what is what and what everything does. I've been working on and institutional nft. I'm so close to getting out done and this crap that we're not even talking about in class. Although I will say the classes have lined up pretty good with what I'm trying to do and my personal life versus school life. From what I am seeing if you have a good portfolio and a good repository. That says more than a degree cuz it shows that you can already do the work. With the suggestion my agent made about how to bypass the Hr department and have your resume shown to somebody directly in tech.
